Job Title: Head of HR & IR


Objective of the Role:


The Head of HR and IR is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing Human Resources strategies that align with the overall business objectives and foster a productive, positive, and legally compliant work environment. This role is pivotal in managing all aspects of the workforce, with a special focus on maintaining harmonious Industrial Relations and ensuring compliance with all labor laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic HR Leadership:


- HR Strategy: Develop, implement, and lead the overall HR and IR strategy, policies, and initiatives that support the organization's mission, vision, and growth objectives.


- Organizational Culture: Lead efforts to define, embed, and champion a positive organizational culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and employee engagement programs.


- Workforce Planning: Oversee strategic workforce planning, including talent forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation to meet current and future business needs.


- HR Metrics & Reporting: Utilize data and analytics to measure HR/IR effectiveness (e.g., turnover, engagement, dispute resolution) and provide strategic reports to the senior leadership team.

Core HR Functions:


- Talent Management: Direct all phases of the employee life-cycle, including talent acquisition, on-boarding, performance management, training & development, and succession planning.


- Compensation & Benefits: Design and manage competitive and compliant compensation structures, payroll processes, employee benefits, and reward & recognition programs.


- Employee Relations: Develop and administer effective employee relations programs, managing complex employee issues and ensuring a safe and ethical workplace.


- Policy Management: Create, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures (e.g., leave, code of conduct, health and safety) to ensure clarity and adherence across the organization.

Industrial Relations (IR) Management:


- Labour Relations: Act as the primary liaison between management and the workforce, including union representatives (if applicable), to foster a constructive relationship.


- Negotiations & Agreements: Lead, manage, and execute all collective bargaining agreements, including preparing documentation, advising management, and conducting negotiations.


- Dispute Resolution: Strategically manage and resolve all employee grievances, disputes, and disciplinary matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant processes.


- Compliance: Ensure stringent compliance with all national and local labor laws, employment standards, and statutory requirements (e.g., Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, etc.).


Required Qualifications and Skills:


Education and Experience:


- Education: Master's degree/ MBA/PGDM in HR/Personnel Management/Industrial Relations.


- Experience: 18 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with significant leadership experience in Industrial Relations, preferably in manufacturing, Civil industry environment.


Core Competencies:


- Industrial Relations Expertise: Deep and current knowledge of labor legislation, union dynamics, collective bargaining, and grievance handling.


- Strategic Thinking: Ability to link HR and IR strategy directly to business outcomes and commercial goals.


- Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead and mentor an HR team, drive change, and influence senior stakeholders.


- Conflict Resolution: Exceptional negotiation, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills.


- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
