
Role Overview:
As DA Legal Counsel specializing in Land Acquisition for our Renewable Energy Platform, you will be at the forefront of enabling our ambitious growth plans. Your day-to-day will involve navigating the complexities of land acquisition laws, conducting due diligence, drafting and negotiating agreements, and providing strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with the land acquisition team, project development teams, and external legal counsel, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks associated with land acquisition for our renewable energy projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to the successful development and operation of our renewable energy assets, driving our commitment to a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal due diligence on land parcels, assessing ownership, encumbrances, and regulatory compliance to minimize potential risks for renewable energy projects.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various land acquisition agreements, including sale deeds, lease agreements, and right-of-way agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
- Provide strategic legal advice to the land acquisition team and project development teams on all aspects of land acquisition, including zoning regulations, environmental clearances, and land use restrictions, to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Manage and oversee external legal counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective legal support for land acquisition activities, contributing to project timelines and budget adherence.
- Develop and implement standardized legal processes and templates for land acquisition, enhancing efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Monitor and analyze changes in land acquisition laws and regulations, advising the company on potential impacts and ensuring compliance.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply land acquisition laws and regulations, including the Land Acquisition Act and other relevant statutes.
- Proven ability to conduct legal due diligence, draft and negotiate land acquisition agreements, and manage external legal counsel effectively.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with landowners, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university; Master's degree in Law (LLM) preferred.
