
Legal Officer
Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Officer with 46 years of experience to manage and oversee legal affairs in our organization within the Petrochemical, Plastics, or Rubber industry.
Key Responsibilities (KRA):
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, agreements, and MoUs.
- Manage and coordinate legal matters related to regulatory compliance, environmental laws, and industry-specific legal obligations.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, including arbitration, civil litigation, and labor matters.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities for ongoing legal cases and compliance.
- Conduct legal risk assessments and suggest measures to mitigate potential legal issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations, including those relating to chemical handling, labor, and environmental impact.
- Maintain and update legal records, case files, licenses, and statutory documents.
- Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures if applicable.
- Advise internal stakeholders on contractual obligations, legal rights, and responsibilities.
- Monitor changes in legislation and assess their impact on company operations.
- Review and ensure the legality of all company communications, policies, and business practices.
Required Skillsets:
- Strong knowledge of corporate, industrial, environmental, and labor laws
- Proven experience in handling legal matters within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Expertise in contract drafting, legal documentation, and dispute resolution
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks specific to petrochemical, plastics, or rubber sectors
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple legal issues simultaneously with a proactive approach
- Proficiency in using legal databases and MS Office applications
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university; Master's in Law (LL.M) is an advantage
- 4 to 6 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the petrochemical, plastics, or rubber industry
