Position Overview The Compliance Officer HR Department is responsible for ensuring that the organizations HR practices, policies, and processes comply with applicable labour laws, regulations, and organizational standards. This role involves monitoring compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of ethical and legal integrity within the workplace. Key Responsibilities: 1. Regulatory Compliance - Monitor and ensure adherence to labour laws, employment regulations, and industry standards, including but not limited to: - Minimum Wages Act. - Factories Act. - Payment of Gratuity Act. - EPF & ESI regulations. - Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Laws. - Stay updated on changes in labour laws and regulations and communicate updates to the HR team and leadership. 2. Policy and Process Development - Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating HR policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements. - Design and implement compliance frameworks and processes for HR operations, including hiring, termination, compensation, and employee benefits. - Conduct periodic reviews of employee handbooks, contracts, and other HR documentation for legal accuracy. 3. Audits and Reporting - Conduct regular internal audits of HR practices to identify compliance risks and address gaps. - Prepare and maintain compliance-related documentation, ensuring records are audit-ready at all times. - Generate and present compliance reports to senior management, highlighting areas of risk and recommendations for improvement. 4. Training and Awareness - Develop and deliver training programs to educate HR teams, managers, and employees on compliance-related topics, such as workplace safety, anti-harassment policies, and labour law updates. - Create awareness campaigns to promote a culture of compliance within the organization. 5. Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution - Identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively. - Investigate HR-related compliance issues, including employee grievances or disputes related to workplace policies. - Act as a point of contact for external regulatory authorities during inspections or audits. 6. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with legal, finance, and operational teams to ensure compliance requirements are met across all departments. - Provide guidance to HR teams on complex compliance issues, such as data privacy, diversity and inclusion mandates, or global employment standards. Qualifications Education: - Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. - Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance Professional - CCP, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) is preferred. Experience: - 35 years of experience in HR compliance, labour law, or a similar role. - Over all experience 10+, Proven track record of implementing compliance frameworks and managing audits. Skills: - Strong understanding of labour laws, employment regulations, and compliance standards in [specific country/region]. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and recommend solutions. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and collaborate with employees at all levels. - Proficiency in HR management systems and reporting tools. - Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
