Position: Head of Legal and Product Innovation
( 10-15 yrs of legal experience with strong exposure to corporate/commercial law, contracts, compliance, or litigation management)
The group is a fast-growing legal tech startup on a mission to transform how law firms and in-house legal teams manage their contracts, trademarks and litigations. Backed by leading clients and investors, we are now looking to strengthen our product innovation pipeline by hiring a Head of Legal who will bring deep domain expertise and strategic vision to our team.
Role Overview:
The Head of Legal will play a pivotal role at the intersection of law and technology. This role goes beyond traditional legal responsibilities - instead, you will drive product innovation and strategy by identifying unmet needs of legal teams and designing solutions that transform the way they work. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to ensure our products are both legally robust and practically impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Innovation: Use legal expertise to conceptualize and shape new product ideas that address the real pain points of in-house legal teams and law firms.
- Strategic Advisory: Advise product and leadership teams on emerging legal trends, regulatory shifts, and how they can be translated into product opportunities.
- Customer Insight: Engage with clients (law firms and GCs) to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities to co-create innovative solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure domain accuracy and usability of legal tech products.
- Thought Leadership: Represent the company at legal tech forums, conferences, and roundtables; contribute to positioning the company as a category leader.
- Knowledge Sharing: Build internal playbooks, frameworks, and knowledge bases to ensure product teams stay aligned with legal realities.
- Compliance & Risk: Provide oversight to ensure products comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, especially in data-sensitive environments.
What We're Looking For
- 10-15 years of legal experience with strong exposure to corporate/commercial law, contracts, compliance, or litigation management.
- Prior experience in a top-tier law firm or as an in-house counsel (ideally both) with a deep understanding of how legal teams work.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate or transform processes within a legal function (e.g., introducing tech tools, knowledge management systems, or process automation).
- Strong interest in technology, product design, and innovation - ideally with exposure to legal tech, SaaS, or digital transformation projects.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical product features and workflows.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- Strong communication and leadership skills - comfortable influencing across functions and engaging with senior clients.
