Role Overview:
We are looking for a legal professional to handle and manage labour, employment, and industrial relations matters of the organization. The role will be responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, effective legal representation, and risk mitigation in employment-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Labour & Industrial Law Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable labour and industrial laws including but not limited to:
- Industrial Disputes Act
- Factories Act
- Shops & Establishments Act
- Contract Labour (R&A) Act
- Payment of Wages
- Gratuity
- Bonus
- EPF
- ESI
- Workmen's Compensation
- Advise management on legal implications of HR policies, disciplinary actions, terminations, retrenchments, and settlements.
2. Legal Documentation & Drafting
Draft, review, vet, and negotiate employment and establishment-related documents including:
- Employment contracts
- Consultancy / service agreements
- Standing orders
- Policies
- Notices
- Petitions
- Affidavits
- Replies
- Legal representations
- Ensure documents are legally sound and aligned with statutory requirements.
3. Litigation & Case Handling
Handle labour and service-related cases before:
- Labour Courts
- Industrial Tribunals
- High Courts, as applicable
- Quasi-judicial and conciliation authorities
- Coordinate with external advocates and law firms.
- Represent the organization before statutory authorities such as:
- Labour Department
- EPF and ESI authorities
- Gratuity and Workmen's Compensation authorities
- Factories Directorate and Inspectorates
4. Advisory & Stakeholder Support
- Provide legal opinions and guidance to HR, IR, and business teams.
- Support collective bargaining, union-related matters, and dispute resolution.
- Assist during inspections, audits, and statutory enquiries.
- Monitor changes in labour legislation and ensure timely implementation.
Eligibility Criteria:
Essential Qualification:
- 5-year Integrated Law Degree (Any U.G + LL.B./B.L.), or
- 3-year LL.B./B.L. after graduation
- Degree must be from a BCI-recognized Law College / University
