Role Overview:

As Legal Counsel, you will provide comprehensive legal support to the organization, focusing on corporate law, contract management, and regulatory compliance within the banking and financial services sectors. You will collaborate closely with various internal teams, including business development, risk management, and compliance, to ensure the company's activities align with legal and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in mitigating legal risks and supporting strategic decision-making, ultimately contributing to the firm's continued success and reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate law matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents to protect the company's interests and minimize legal risks.

- Manage and oversee the contract lifecycle, ensuring timely renewals, amendments, and compliance with contractual obligations.

- Conduct legal research and analysis to stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting the banking and financial services industry.

- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.

- Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks effectively.

- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations, as needed, to protect its interests and achieve favorable outcomes.

- Collaborate with external legal counsel on complex legal matters, providing guidance and support as required.

- Advise senior management on legal and regulatory matters, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support business objectives.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in corporate law, contract management, and regulatory compliance within the banking and financial services industry.

- Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and legal documents.

- Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including banking regulations, securities laws, and data privacy laws.

- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.

- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, concise, and practical legal advice.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) required; Master's degree in Law (LLM) preferred.
