The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems. CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally. In India, CHAI works in partnership with its India registered affiliate William J Clinton Foundation (WJCF) under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the Central and States' levels on an array of high priority initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. Currently, WJCF supports government partners across projects to expand access to quality care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, tuberculosis, COVID-19, common cancers, sexual and reproductive health, immunization, and essential medicines. Project Background: - Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health services are critical to government of India's Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) program, which aims to achieve population stabilisation, promote reproductive health, and reduce maternal and child mortality and morbidity. WJCF works closely with the state of Madhya Pradesh to enable policy design, roll-out and implementation of SRH services with the aim to support the state government in achieving the ambitious goal of expanding access to quality and accessible RMNCHA services. The SRH team has been supporting the state in scaling access to Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) services, driving uptake of Modern, Effective and Temporary (MET) methods of contraception, addressing supply chain infirmities in family planning commodities, skilling health workers in counselling and service delivery, and identifying new approaches to improve awareness and uptake of family planning services in vulnerable communities across the state. - WJCF is also shaping the Family Planning ecosystem in India to enable introduction of new contraceptive methods with the aim of increasing contraceptive choices for women. The SRH team is driving the market shaping for new methods such as LNG 1.5 mg as pericoital pill, and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) methods such as implants and hormonal IUDs. - Additionally, WJCF seeks to address the extensive barriers to safe abortion services in India, including lack of information, stigma, and insufficient healthcare resources. Their comprehensive strategy involves research and stakeholder engagement to develop scalable solutions, aiming to prevent maternal mortality from unsafe abortions. Position Overview: - WJCF is seeking a highly motivated individual with demonstrated problem-solving abilities for the role of Associate, SRH. They will lead design and implementation of programs for enhancing access and utilisation of safe abortion care services in India. This role will require working on other SRH priorities as well, including comprehensive abortion care, sexual health, and family planning services. - The Associate will lead gathering of vital evidence and insights to enhance safe abortion services in India by conducting primary and secondary research, supplier and retail landscape assessment, targeted stakeholder interviews, end-user studies; collating and synthesizing information to generate high quality insights, coordinating with donors and partners on program design and collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will be guide a wide variety of tasks, from quantitative analysis to content creation and assisting the team with components which will contribute to data analytics and/or demand generation and supply landscaping, and be the point of contact for the donor, internal and external stakeholders. The position requires travel to program implementation sites and for meetings with other stakeholders. - We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding problem-solving and communication skills. Responsibilities: - In collaboration with the Program Manager, provide strategic leadership, administrative and managerial oversight, and monitoring of key grant deliverables. - Develop strong working relationships with key external stakeholders in government, donors, and partners and ensure maximum coordination of resources and efforts. - Develop strategic and implementation plans, manage effective project implementation as well as contextualized approaches to achieve project outcomes. - Work with the team to identify insights from the secondary and primary research to inform improved service delivery for SRH services. - Lead data analytics for the project, including developing forecasting and stock monitoring tools, graphical dashboards, project management tools, etc. - Assess the landscape of suppliers and retailers involved in the distribution of medical abortion drugs. Investigate supply chain dynamics and support strategies to bridge gaps. - Coordinate project-wide outputs related to execution, implementation, reporting, compliance, and updates. - Prepare documentation and reports for dissemination of information among partners, donors, and stakeholders. - Build relationships with key stakeholders in the SRH ecosystem, including donors, partners, relevant government departments, and officials. - Support Program Manager in identifying and defining WJCF's overall strategy for various project areas, develop clear operational plans for execution, and continually identify opportunities for WJCF to add value and maximize impact. - Support Manager in scoping for new opportunities/creating pitch documents for new grants/donors in the SRH and allied spaces, including and not limited to maternal and child health, gender-based issues, and identify white space opportunity areas for WJCF. - Provide operational support to the Manager to develop, plan, and implement multiple activities simultaneously. - Support recruitment of talent in consonance with project needs and provide guidance/mentoring to project staff. Qualification: - Bachelor's/PG degree or higher in Economics, Public Health, Business, or a related field. - At least 4 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private. - Demonstrated ability in managing large projects, project design, and experience in concept note/proposal development. - Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills and strong written and oral communication skills including development of analyses/ presentations for varied project audience/stakeholders. - Entrepreneurial mindset: demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects and solve challenging problems, in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. - Demonstrated ability to multi-task with a strong commitment to excellence, both internally and externally, and with limited structural support. - Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment. - English and Hindi language fluency, both written and verbal. - Drafting proposals and collaborative documents - Able to multitask with multiple stakeholders keeping WJCF ideals and goals in mind. - Effective and prompt communicator - Able to respond to critical situations in an effective and efficient manner.
