Job Brief :
Wahed is seeking a highly capable Finance Director to lead and strengthen our global finance function as we continue to scale as a pioneer in ethical, Shariah-compliant financial services.
This is a strategic finance leadership role for someone who can operate beyond traditional accounting and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial control, planning, treasury, audit, tax, and governance experience, while partnering closely with the executive team and Board to support sound decision-making, financial discipline, and sustainable growth.
As Finance Director, you will be responsible for ensuring Waheds financial infrastructure is accurate, scalable, compliant, and insight-driven. You will oversee end-to-end finance operations, strengthen controls, manage forecasting and cash flow visibility, and help build a finance function that supports Waheds mission to reduce financial inequality and expand access to values-based investing globally.
Job Description : Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning : - Lead Waheds finance function, ensuring financial reporting, forecasting, planning, and control processes support the companys strategic objectives.
- Partner with the executive leadership team to provide financial insight, commercial analysis, and recommendations that support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Support Board and senior management reporting through clear financial analysis, performance updates, risk insights, and forward-looking recommendations.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support decision-making across global markets.
Financial Control, Accounting & Reporting : - Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, management accounts, and monthly reporting packs.
- Ensure Waheds books, ledgers, reconciliations, and accounting records are maintained to a high standard across all relevant entities.
- Oversee multi-entity consolidation and ensure accurate intercompany eliminations and reporting.
- Oversee ERP and financial management systems, ensuring automation and integration with other core platforms.
- Strengthen internal financial controls, accounting policies, and approval processes to support scale, transparency, and compliance.
- Drive timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital : - Manage cash flow planning, liquidity monitoring, and treasury operations across the business.
- Develop clear visibility over cash position, burn rate, working capital, and future funding requirements.
- Partner with leadership to ensure capital allocation, cost management, and financial resources are aligned with strategic priorities.
- Monitor banking relationships, treasury processes, and financial risk exposure.
Audit, Tax & Compliance Oversight : - Oversee external audit processes and ensure timely completion of statutory accounts and audit requirements.
- Oversee tax planning, filings, and compliance obligations across relevant jurisdictions.
- Ensure financial operations comply with applicable regulatory, statutory, and accounting requirements.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and external advisors to manage finance-related governance and risk matters.
Finance Transformation, Strategic Partnering & Team Leadership : - Lead finance transformation initiatives that strengthen Waheds global financial infrastructure, including scalable systems, reporting frameworks, governance, controls, automation, and data-driven visibility for executive decision-making.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, HR, and regional teams on new market launches, product initiatives, pricing, vendor agreements, and operational planning, acting as a trusted finance advisor to senior leadership.
- Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing global finance team, ensuring clear ownership, strong execution, and consistent finance standards across entities and regions.
Job Specifications : Essential Experience : - Qualified accountant, such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred, paired with a degree or MBA.
- 10+ years of senior finance experience, preferably within a regulated banking, fintech, or financial services environment
- Experience supporting international operations, multi-entity reporting, or cross-border tax and audit processes.
- Strong background in financial control, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, audit, and tax oversight.
- Strong understanding of financial governance, internal controls, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
