Role : Head of Finance / Director of Finance

Reporting To : Executive Director/ Managing Director / Board of Vidyashilp Education Group Pvt Ltd. (VSEG)

Location : Yelahanka , North Bengaluru

Job Purpose:

The Head of Finance will lead the financial strategy, governance, and operations of the education group, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and efficient use of resources across institutions. The role will support growth, expansion, and long-term planning while maintaining strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:

- Develop and implement the group's financial strategy aligned with academic and business goals

- Advise the MD and Board on financial performance, risks, and investment decisions.

- Advise Academic Leadership & Campus Heads on financial prudence and controls.

- Support expansion plans such as new campuses, programs, acquisitions, or partnerships

- Drive long-term financial planning, capital allocation, and funding strategy.

2. Budgeting, Forecasting & MIS:

- Lead annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning across institutions

- Monitor actuals vs budgets and provide variance analysis

- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual MIS reports for management and Board

- Ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and insights for decision-making

3. Accounting & Financial Control:

- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations and closure of books

- Ensure compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) / applicable standards

- Establish and strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs

- Ensure proper cost allocation across schools and campuses.

4. Compliance, Audit & Governance:

Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements including:

- Income Tax, GST, TDS

- Education regulatory bodies ( AICTE, IGCSE, ICSE, State Boards, etc., as applicable)

- Manage statutory, internal, and external audits

- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulators

5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across the group

- Optimize fee collections, vendor payments, and fund utilization

- Oversee banking relationships, loans, and credit facilities

- Ensure efficient treasury and fund management

6. Fee Management & Revenue Oversight:

- Oversee fee structures, concessions, scholarships, and revenue recognition

- Ensure robust systems for fee billing, collection, and reconciliation

- Work closely with admissions and operations teams to forecast enrolments and revenues

7. Team Leadership & Capability Building:

- Lead and develop the finance and accounts team across campuses

- Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and build finance capability

- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

- CA (Chartered Accountant) - preferred

- CMA / MBA (Finance) - acceptable depending on experience

Experience:

- 12-15+ years of progressive finance experience

- At least 5-8 years in a senior leadership role

- Prior experience in education sector, non-profits, or service organizations is strongly preferred

- Experience handling multi-entity or multi-campus operations

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking.

- High emotional quotient and stake holder management capabilities.

- Deep knowledge of Indian taxation, GST, and regulatory compliance

- Experience with education-sector financial models and fee structures

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

- High integrity, governance mindset, and attention to detail

- Ability to work in a mission-driven, academic environment
