Role Summary:

- The Manager - P&L will lead end-to-end procurement, cost optimization, vendor management, and strategic sourcing for packaging materials.


- The role focuses heavily on driving cost leadership, managing auctions/RFQs, ensuring policy compliance, optimizing the procure-to-pay cycle, and partnering with internal and global teams to deliver maximum commercial value.


- The position demands strong analytical capabilities, negotiation skills, deep market intelligence, and the ability to leverage procurement frameworks to deliver sustainable savings and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & RFQ Management:

- Develop, frame, and manage RFQs aligned with procurement strategy to ensure highly competitive supply prices.

- Create end-to-end sourcing strategies for each auction cycle, including supplier outreach, bid evaluation, and award finalization.

- Analyze packaging material categories, cost drivers, and supply market dynamics to support strategic decision-making.

Policy Compliance & Governance:

- Ensure strict adherence to procurement policies, approval workflows, and organizational compliance norms.

- Maintain complete audit readiness by ensuring transparent documentation across sourcing, evaluations, and contracting.

Vendor Management & Negotiation:

- Manage vendor relationships to ensure uninterrupted supply at contracted prices and required service levels.

- Conduct price negotiations using market intelligence, benchmarking, and cost breakdown analysis to achieve best-in-class commercial outcomes.

- Evaluate and allocate share-of-business across suppliers using least-cost combinations, performance metrics, and capacity considerations.

Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration:

- Collaborate closely with global procurement teams to align sourcing strategies, close procurement decisions on time, and share category insights.

- Work with production, planning, logistics, finance, quality, and legal teams for smooth execution of procurement activities.

Operational Procurement & P2P Excellence:

- Oversee the end-to-end procure-to-pay (P2P) cycle for all assigned vendors and intervene to resolve issues related to PO, GRN, invoicing, or payments.

- Ensure timely upload of rates, source lists, quotas, and procurement contracts into SAP as per approved documentation.

Market Intelligence & Budget Management:

- Analyze global and domestic market trends for key raw materials to identify cost drivers and supply risks.

- Develop annual budgets, track variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain cost control within approved limits.

- Continuously monitor price fluctuations to capitalize on sourcing opportunities.

Production Planning & Capacity Alignment:

- Review production plans regularly and provide volume projections to vendors for raw material planning and capacity assurance.

- Coordinate with plants and vendors to resolve supply-chain issues and ensure timely fulfilment of packaging material requirements.

Logistics Coordination & Supply Assurance:

- Collaborate with internal logistics teams to organize inbound transportation for packaging material movements.

- Implement risk-mitigation plans for supply disruptions, inventory shortages, or vendor capacity constraints.

Vendor Development & Expansion:

- Scout, evaluate, and onboard new vendors to strengthen the supply base and meet future capacity demands.

- Conduct capability evaluations, risk assessments, and commercial analyses before vendor addition.

Required Skills:

- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and RFQ/RFP management

- Excellent negotiation, influencing, and analytical skills

- Expertise in packaging materials procurement (paper, plastics, laminates, labels, corrugation, etc.)

- Proficiency in SAP (MM module) and advanced Excel

- Understanding of cost modelling, global commodity trends, and supply-market economics

- Ability to manage P2P processes, contracting, documentation, and compliance

- Strong stakeholder management across manufacturing, finance, logistics, and legal functions

- Ability to execute auctions, reverse auctions, and digital procurement processes

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, pharma, or packaging industries

- Exposure to global sourcing and supplier qualification frameworks

- Experience with e-procurement tools and supplier performance management systems

- Knowledge of sustainability practices in procurement and packaging

- Capability to manage multi-vendor environments and complex material portfolios

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or equivalent

- MBA in Supply Chain/Operations/Procurement (preferred)

- 4-7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, or packaging materials categories
