Role Overview:
The Senior Manager Vendor Development will play a strategic role in building and strengthening the vendor ecosystem that supports our mission-critical aviation and defense projects. This full-time on-site role in Neemrana requires strong leadership in vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, compliance oversight, and performance management.
You will ensure that all vendors meet the companys quality, reliability, technical, safety, and regulatory standards while supporting project delivery timelines. The role requires close coordination with engineering, supply chain, quality, project, and leadership teams to ensure seamless procurement and operational continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Identification & Onboarding:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors for aviation, defense, electro-mechanical, and critical infrastructure requirements.
- Conduct due diligence on vendor capabilities, certifications (ISO, AS9100, BCAS), financial stability, and past performance.
- Develop long-term vendor partnerships that align with organizational goals and technical demands.
Vendor Performance Management:
- Establish and track vendor KPIs including delivery performance, quality metrics, compliance, support SLAs, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct periodic vendor audits, inspections, and compliance assessments in line with Civil Aviation and Defense standards.
- Implement corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives with critical vendors.
Contracting & Negotiation:
- Lead commercial and technical negotiations with domestic and global OEMs and suppliers.
- Draft, review, and finalize vendor contracts, NDAs, service agreements, and supply terms.
- Ensure all contracts adhere to MoD, DRDO, BCAS, and internal procurement policies.
Supply Chain & Procurement Support:
- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain, Project Management, and Engineering teams to forecast requirements and avoid disruptions.
- Monitor procurement cycles, lead times, and inventory levels to maintain efficient supply continuity.
- Implement cost optimization strategies without compromising on technical or regulatory requirements.
Risk & Compliance Management:
- Perform vendor risk assessments covering operational, financial, quality, and geopolitical risks.
- Ensure vendors comply with aviation and defense regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and export-control norms (if applicable).
- Maintain accurate vendor documentation, certifications, and compliance records.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with project teams to ensure vendor deliverables align with project schedules and quality standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of vendor development specialists/executives.
- Support escalation management and resolve vendor-related issues promptly.
Data, Reporting & Strategy:
- Analyze vendor performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process optimization.
- Prepare MIS reports and dashboards for senior leadership review.
- Contribute to long-term vendor strategy, supplier diversification, and capability enhancement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in Vendor Development, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing.
- Strong experience in vendor negotiation, contract management, and supplier evaluation.
- Familiarity with aviation, defense, electronics, electro-mechanical systems, or similar regulated sectors.
- Proven ability in market analysis, risk assessment, and vendor audit processes.
- Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Advanced certifications such as CSCP, CPSM, CPPM, or Six Sigma.
- Experience working with global OEMs and international vendor ecosystems.
- Understanding of DRDO, MoD, DGCA, BCAS compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, procurement tools, and vendor management platforms.
