You will be responsible for :  During Project :  The Materials Manager, Start-Up Services, provides oversight, expertise and sets strategic direction to the logistical activities including (but not limited to) receipt and tagging, assembling/staging, storing, transportation and delivery, as well as deployment and installation activities of capital equipment and furniture in excess of 150 crore in annual spend related to the regional Capital Plans and annual replacements; and as prescribed by the Program-Wide Integrated Capital Procurement Plan.   - Leads/manages the operations of the regional Distribution Centers/Warehouses, and is responsible for inventory reduction goals as prescribed by leadership. Leads/manages prescribed initiatives relating to Just-In-Time deployment strategies, and is responsible for project implementation and related change management activities. Responsible for overall company compliance, as it relates to the above-mentioned scope of work, chain of custody, receipt, asset-tagging, storing, inventory control, reporting, and resolution.  During Production :  - The Materials manager is to identify the requirements for planning, storage, control and distribution of goods in the organization. Need to work closely in association with the production department and the vendors. Through his analysis and material management skills he helps the company in meeting short term and long term production goals and helps in keeping the supply chain active throughout.   Primary Duties of a Materials Manager :  - Provides oversight and sets strategic direction to the activities associated with the daily operational/tactical aspects of project and non-project related logistical and deployment needs.   - Reviews high-level deliverables while mitigating risks associated with multiple, geographically challenged deployments.  - Manages and/or establishes communication mechanisms, identifies and resolves issues, prioritizes customer requirements and maintains continuous improvements through customer feedback. Responsible for developing implementation plans that address possible challenges and their potential solutions.  - Ensures that processes, systems and procedures are in place to appropriately track furniture and equipment inventory.   - Provides quarterly (or adhoc) reports to forecast volume/workload associated with effective resource planning efforts for logistical and deployment needs.   - Responsible for effective relevant resource allocation and coverage.  - Collects requirements from the production department and designs specifications and budget for the raw material  - Researching for best prices in the market and potential vendors who can supply the required amount of quality products on time  - Negotiates with the vendors and places order for the raw materials and makes sure that the placed orders are delivered on time  - Supervises shipping of the materials to ensure that they there are no defective items in the materials  - Supervises the inventory available and generates monthly inventory report to be presented to the higher officials  - Identifies the reason for the extra consumption of the raw material by collecting information from the production department  - Identifies the emergency requirements of the materials and arranges supplies for the same  Secondary Duties of a Materials Manager :  - Enter data into the database and making changes in them periodically  - Participate in meetings with the accounting and finance departments and giving details of purchase to them  - Provide training to the juniors and the less experienced employees  - Maintain on-going relations with the contractors  - Answer the questions of senior executives and directors of the company  Skills Required by Materials Manager :  - Should have good negotiating skills and verbal and written communication skills  - Skillful in planning and analyzing the requirements of the production department  - Ability to design specifications for the raw materials to be ordered  - Skilled at researching the market, looking for potential suppliers and designing quotations for the purchase order  - Well-versed with the traditional as well as advanced methods used in inventory control  - Proficient in using computer, fax machines, printers, Xerox machines, etc.  Educational Requirements for Materials Manager :  Bachelor's degree with specialization in Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain Management. It can be added advantage to pursue a master's degree in Business Administration, especially in fields such as retailing, inventory management or materials management.
