
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Legal Advisory
- Act as the principal legal advisor to the Board and senior leadership.
- Provide guidance on corporate strategy, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and new product launches.
- Anticipate legal risks and design proactive mitigation strategies.
2. Contract & Transaction Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including vendor agreements, bancassurance tie-ups, reinsurance contracts, and distribution partnerships.
- Standardize policy documents and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Manage litigation related to claims, mis-selling, fraud, and contractual disputes.
- Coordinate with external counsel and represent the company in courts, consumer forums, and arbitration proceedings.

- Identify potential legal risks in business operations and recommend preventive measures.
- Support internal audits, fraud investigations, and whistleblower cases.
5. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing legal team.
- Conduct training sessions for business teams on legal and regulatory matters.
- Foster a culture of compliance and ethical business practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: LLB/LLM from a reputed law school.
- Experience: 10+ years in corporate legal roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Expertise: Insurance law, corporate law, regulatory compliance, litigation management.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and regulators.
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior experience in a Life Insurance company or BFSI sector.
- Deep understanding of insurance products, distribution models, and claims processes.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and sound judgment.
- Ability to balance business growth with regulatory compliance.
