As an In-House Legal Counsel, you will be part of our Global Legal & Compliance Team, supporting development and sales activities across multiple regions. Reporting directly to the Global General Counsel, you will provide legal guidance on domestic and international matters, including software licensing, SaaS agreements, IT services, HR, property, procurement, and compliance.

Being the first fully qualified lawyer in India, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our Indian legal operations and act as the primary legal advisor for our local management team.

Key Responsibilities

Contracting & Negotiation

- Draft, review, and negotiate complex on-premises software and SaaS agreements with clients in North America, EU, APAC, and other global regions.

- Prepare and negotiate IT-service, procurement, and purchase agreements, service descriptions, and company policies.

- Provide legal support on project agreements, commercial contracts, and corporate housekeeping documents.

- Maintain and enhance Serralas contract management and archive systems.

Legal Advisory & Compliance

- Serve as the primary legal contact in India for all local legal matters including HR law, property, procurement, labor, and administrative law.

- Support regional management with legal risk assessments and compliance with Indian law and international trade standards.

- Collaborate with global legal colleagues on cross-border legal projects, policies, and compliance frameworks.

Cross-functional Collaboration

- Partner with sales, consulting, and business teams to provide practical and business-oriented legal solutions.

- Guide stakeholders on legal risks, best practices, and compliance requirements.

- Coordinate and lead multi-departmental legal projects requiring alignment across regions.

Requirements

Education & Qualification

- Full Indian legal education:

B.A. + LL.B. / B.A. + LL.M. Master's in a related field would be preferred.

- Admitted as a Solicitor / Advocate in India (or eligible).

- Graduated from a reputed law school with above-average results / honors.

Experience

- 5+ years of legal experience (law firm and/or in-house).

- At least 3 years as in-house counsel in a global or established corporate legal team.

- Proven expertise in TMT (Technology, Media, Telecom) law, IP/IT law, software licensing, and SaaS contracts.

- Strong knowledge of Indian legal, HR, corporate, and compliance frameworks.

Skills

- Business-fluent legal English (written and spoken).

- Strong negotiation and contract-drafting skills.

- Ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional legal issues independently.

- Familiarity with international commercial practices and compliance standards.
