
Head - HR Business Partner (HRBP)

It is a fast-growing startup in the quick-commerce/logistics space, building its people function from the ground up. We're looking for a hands-on HR leader who can architect our HR backbone policies, strategy, compliance, and culture as we scale.
Role Summary:
This is a builder's role. You'll own the entire HR charter excluding talent acquisition designing systems, frameworks, and processes from zero to one, while acting as a strategic partner to the co-founder on people decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Strategy & Business Partnering:
- Act as strategic advisor to the co-founder on org design, workforce planning, and people strategy
- Translate business goals into HR priorities and roadmaps
Policy & Process Design:
- Build HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbook from scratch
- Design compensation structures, performance management systems, and career frameworks
Compliance & Statutory:
- Ensure compliance with labour laws (Shops & Establishments, PF, ESIC, POSH, gratuity, etc.)
- Manage statutory audits, registrations, and documentation
- Set up POSH committee and grievance redressal mechanisms
Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Design and drive engagement calendars, R&R programs, and culture-building initiatives
- Build feedback mechanisms (pulse surveys, skip-levels, exit interviews) and act on insights
- Champion culture as the company scales
HR Operations:
- Oversee onboarding/offboarding, HRMS implementation, payroll coordination, and employee lifecycle management
- Build MIS/dashboards for HR metrics (attrition, headcount, engagement scores)
People Development:
- Design L&D frameworks, competency mapping, and succession planning
- Drive performance appraisal cycles end-to-end
Requirements:
- 8-12 years in HR/HRBP roles, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership capacity
- Prior experience in e-commerce, quick-commerce, or logistics (high-velocity, operations-heavy environments)
- Proven track record of building HR functions from scratch at a startup or during rapid scale-up
- Strong grasp of Indian labour law and statutory compliance
- Experience with HRMS/HCM tools (SAP SuccessFactors, Darwinbox, Keka, etc.)
- Excellent stakeholder management, with comfort operating as a direct report to a founder
- MBA/PGDM in HR preferred
What We're Looking For:
Someone comfortable with ambiguity, who can build structure without over-engineering it for a startup's pace - equal parts strategic thinker and hands-on operator, reporting directly into the co-founder.
