About the Role:

A leading cargo terminal and logistics company is looking for an experienced Senior Manager - Industrial Relations / AGM - Industrial Relations to manage and strengthen the Industrial Relations function at its operations in Koproli, Panvel, Raigad.

The position will be responsible for managing employee relations, labour matters, statutory compliance, workforce engagement and coordination with workmen, unions, contractors and relevant government authorities.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Industrial Relations within a manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, cargo, warehouse, port or other labour-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Industrial Relations:

- Manage day-to-day Industrial Relations (IR) activities and employee relations.

- Maintain effective relationships with workmen, employee representatives and recognised unions.

- Handle union negotiations, settlements, grievances and disciplinary matters.

- Support management during wage negotiations and settlement discussions.

- Identify potential IR issues and proactively develop solutions to maintain a harmonious work environment.

- Handle disputes, domestic enquiries and disciplinary proceedings in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

Labour Law & Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, employment regulations and statutory requirements.

- Monitor compliance relating to wages, working hours, leave, contract labour, standing orders and other applicable labour regulations.

- Coordinate with government/labour authorities whenever required.

- Ensure proper maintenance of statutory records, registers and documentation.

- Work closely with legal advisors on labour-related matters and disputes.

Contract Labour Management:

- Manage and monitor contract labour / outsourced manpower.

- Coordinate with contractors regarding statutory compliance, manpower deployment, attendance and wage-related matters.

- Ensure contractors comply with applicable labour and statutory requirements.

- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits.

Employee Relations & Engagement:

- Develop initiatives to improve employee engagement, discipline and workplace relations.

- Address employee grievances and facilitate timely resolution.

- Work closely with operations and functional heads to resolve people-related issues.

- Promote a positive and productive workplace culture.

HR Operations:

- Coordinate with the HR team on manpower planning, attendance, workforce deployment and employee documentation.

- Support HR policies and processes applicable to workmen and staff.

- Analyse manpower costs, overtime, absenteeism and productivity.

- Prepare regular MIS and management reports relating to IR, manpower and compliance.

Stakeholder Management:

- Work closely with the Head - HR based at the Mumbai Office and operational leadership at Koproli.

- Partner with senior management on sensitive employee and IR matters.

- Coordinate with contractors, unions, labour consultants and government authorities.

Candidate Profile:

- Graduate degree in any discipline; MBA/PGDM in HR / Personnel Management / Labour Relations preferred.

- 10 - 12 years of relevant experience in Industrial Relations / Employee Relations.

- Strong hands-on experience in unionised and blue-collar workforce environments.

- Experience in logistics, cargo, port, manufacturing, infrastructure, warehousing or similar labour-intensive industries will be preferred.

- Strong knowledge of labour laws, statutory compliance, disciplinary procedures and union management.

- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- Mature, practical and solution-oriented approach to handling sensitive IR matters.

- Willingness to work from Koproli, Panvel, Raigad.
