About the Client:

Our client is a premier, Fortune-listed global leader in integrated logistics, maritime transport, and supply chain solutions. Operating across 130+ countries, they partner with the world's largest enterprises to move goods seamlessly across global trade lanes.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel - Commercial & Logistics Contracting to drive risk-aware, commercially strategic, and well-governed customer contracting processes across a designated international region.

In this high-impact role, you will independently draft, review, and negotiate complex cross-border commercial, supply chain, and maritime logistics agreements with global enterprise accounts. Serving as a strategic partner to commercial leaders, account directors, and product teams, you will balance robust legal protection with commercial agility while mentoring junior legal professionals and shaping regional contracting playbooks.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Contracting & Deal Negotiation:

- Independently draft, structure, review, and finalize complex international commercial, supply chain, and maritime logistics agreements, with a primary focus on strategic/key enterprise accounts.

- Lead front-end contract negotiations directly with global customers and external legal counsel to structure balanced, commercially viable, and mutually beneficial deals.

- Take end-to-end ownership of the legal contracting lifecycle for an assigned geographic region, acting as the primary legal advisor to regional business stakeholders.

Stakeholder Strategy & Risk Governance:

- Drive internal alignment with commercial, operations, and product stakeholders prior to and during customer negotiations - advising on deal structures, fallback positions, and risk mitigation strategies.

- Evaluate contractual risk exposure (liability caps, indemnities, SLAs, consequential damages) and deliver pragmatic legal solutions that protect organizational interests without stalling commercial momentum.

- Ensure strict adherence to corporate legal governance, regulatory compliance, and global contracting policies.

Mentorship & Knowledge Management:

- Partner with the Legal Team Lead to oversee quality standards, review deliverables, and supervise newly onboarded team members.

- Act as a mentor and subject-matter guide for junior counsels to elevate team capability, consistency, and turnaround quality.

- Contribute to global legal operations and knowledge management initiatives by developing standardized templates, contract playbooks, and best-practice negotiation guidelines.

- Track evolving international trade, logistics, and commercial legal trends to keep internal legal strategies aligned with shifting market dynamics.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications:

- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LL.B. / LL.M.) from a recognized university.

- Experience: 8+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial contract drafting, review, and front-end negotiation within a leading multinational corporation (in-house) or an international/Tier-1 law firm.

- Domain Expertise: Strong working knowledge of international maritime, freight forwarding, warehousing, or integrated supply chain/logistics law is highly preferred.

Core Competencies:

- Commercial Pragmatism: Proven ability to lead high-value multi-jurisdictional negotiations independently while balancing legal protection with revenue goals.

- Executive Presence: Confident, decisive communicator capable of challenging assumptions, advising senior business leaders, and pushing back constructively when commercial proposals carry unacceptable risk.

- Operational Agility: High resilience and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight turnaround timelines in a fast-paced global environment.

- Cross-Border Collaboration: Exceptional written and spoken English fluency; experience collaborating across diverse international time zones and multicultural teams (proficiency in an additional foreign language is an advantage).
