Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) in the Client Coverage team plays a pivotal role in deepening relationships with key corporate. The AVP will support and contribute to the origination and execution of high-impact investment banking transactions including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), equity capital markets (ECM), debt capital markets (DCM), and structured/leveraged finance deals.
This role is suited for a high-performing individual with a strong background in corporate finance, exceptional client engagement skills, and a strategic understanding of the broader financial markets and macroeconomic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Client Coverage & Relationship Management
- Act as the day-to-day liaison for corporate clients, providing consistent relationship management and high-quality coverage.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to originate business by understanding client
strategies, industry trends, and capital structure needs.
- Work closely with senior bankers to develop and execute a relationship strategy aligned with the client's growth trajectory.
- Help coordinate internal touchpoints and communications across different product and sector teams for holistic client service delivery.
Origination & Transaction Advisory
- Develop and pitch bespoke strategic and financing ideas to clients, working with sector and product partners to bring full-firm capabilities to the table.
- Take the lead on producing marketing materials such as pitch books, strategic reviews, company profiles, and financing proposals.
- Identify opportunities for M&A, equity/debt issuance, and restructuring mandates based on financial analysis, peer benchmarking, and market research.
Deal Execution Support
- Collaborate with deal teams during transaction execution, including drafting information memorandums, assisting with due diligence, managing third-party advisors, and coordinating with legal, compliance, and risk teams.
- Review and refine financial models, valuation materials, and investor presentations.
- Ensure transaction milestones are met and communications with clients remain fluid, transparent, and professional throughout the execution lifecycle.
Sector and Market Intelligence
- Build deep domain knowledge across the relevant sector(s), becoming a trusted thought partner to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor market developments, macroeconomic indicators, and competitor activities
that could impact clients' strategic positioning.
- Generate regular insights and updates to clients on sector outlooks, capital markets trends, and potential inorganic opportunities
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Mentor and oversee analysts and associates by guiding their work on client deliverables, technical modelling, and internal documentation.
- Contribute to internal forums such as deal review committees, sector strategy sessions, and best practice discussions.
- Support internal approval processes including credit memos and KYC requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, or related field. MBA or CFA is a plus.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or client relationship roles.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in client interaction and supporting execution of complex transactions.
- Knowledge of local regulatory frameworks and global financial market practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a high-pressure environment.
