Job Summary:


SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Development Manager to lead its operations in Bhagalpur. This critical, on-site role is responsible for the aggressive expansion and management of the company's agent network, directly driving sales growth, and ensuring the achievement of challenging business targets across Protection, Pension, Savings, and Health solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong sales acumen with exceptional leadership, training, and ethical business practices, fostering a sustainable, customer-first approach.


Key Responsibilities and Technical Focus:


Agent Network Management and Recruitment:


- Design and execute robust strategies for the continuous recruitment, selection, and onboarding of high-quality life insurance agents, effectively building an expansive and high-performing network.


- Establish clear performance benchmarks and accountability standards for the agency force, actively managing agent productivity and persistence.


Sales Growth and Business Target Achievement:


- Drive sales of SBI Life's diverse product portfolio (Protection, Pension, Savings, Health) to ensure the consistent achievement of aggressive monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets.


- Monitor local market trends, competitive activity, and regulatory changes to adapt sales strategies and product positioning effectively.


Training, Mentoring, and Development:


- Provide systematic training and coaching to the agency network on product knowledge, sales processes, ethical selling practices, and customer service standards.


- Act as a mentor, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and professional growth among agents.


Compliance, Operations, and Digital Adoption:


- Ensure strict compliance by all agents with company policies, regulatory guidelines (IRDAI), and ethical service standards during sales and operational processes.


- Drive the adoption and proficiency of digital tools and platforms among agents for seamless policy issuance, operations, reporting, and enhanced customer service experiences.


Customer-Centricity and Collaboration:


- Champion a strong customer-first approach, ensuring high standards of customer satisfaction and ethical business conduct are maintained across the agency channel.


- Collaborate closely with internal teams (Underwriting, Operations, Claims) and external corporate partners to resolve complex customer issues and drive seamless service delivery.


Required Qualifications & Skills:


- Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3+ years in a comparable role is suggested given the seniority) in sales, business development, and direct team management within the financial services or insurance sector.


- Sales and Leadership Acumen: Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and building, motivating, and managing a large sales team effectively.


- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of the life insurance industry, product categories (Protection, Pension, Savings), and local market trends.


- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective agent training and collaboration.


- Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in using digital tools, CRM systems, and company platforms for operational reporting, sales monitoring, and managing the agent lifecycle.


- Ethics and Compliance: Unwavering commitment to maintaining customer satisfaction, ethical business practices, and regulatory compliance.


Preferred Skills:


- Previous experience in the insurance or financial services sector is a significant plus.


- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.


- Knowledge of local market dynamics and competitive landscape in the Bhagalpur region.


- Proven ability to manage multi-functional relationships and external corporate partnerships.
