Profile of the Ideal Leader:
Ph.D/Post-doc in organic Chemistry, Food Science, Extraction Technology, or a related bioprocess discipline.
Technical Experience:
15+ years of technical leadership within top-tier global bioingredients, flavor & fragrance, botanical extraction, or specialty chemical multinationals.
Engineering & Chemistry Mastery:
Proven track record in scaling complex chemical/extraction processes from bench lab to full industrial production, coupled with deep experience in IP filing and global regulatory submissions.
Matrix Leadership:I
- Exceptional ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willing to relocate to South India.
Key Job responsibilities:
1. Advanced Extraction Technology & Process Improvement:
- Extraction Engineering Leadership: Direct the research, development, and industrial scaling of advanced extraction methodologies (e.g., Supercritical CO2, green solvents, bio-refining, enzymatic processing, molecular distillation).
- Process Optimization & Yield Enhancement: Oversee continuous process improvement across processing plants, optimizing extraction efficiency, active compound concentration, solvent recovery, and energy efficiency.
- Capital & Pilot Plant Scaling: Drive the technical evaluation, pilot testing, and commissioning of new manufacturing technology platforms to support enterprise growth and capacity expansion.
2. Ingredient & Solutions Innovation:
- Next-Generation Portfolio Development: Lead long-term scientific research into novel bio-ingredients, functional molecules, clean-label stabilizers, and natural active compounds.
- Biotechnology & Sustainable Science: Explore and integrate emerging technological vectorssuch as precision fermentation, bio-catalysis, and green chemistry - into the groups core product roadmap.
- Upstream-to-Downstream Integration: Ensure fundamental ingredient breakthroughs in upstream extraction seamlessly translate into viable raw materials for downstream applications across Taste, Perfumery, and Color business units.
3. Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy & Governance:
- Global IP Architecture: Define and execute the groups worldwide IP strategy, securing patents for novel extraction processes, proprietary formulation matrices, and specialized bio-molecules.
- IP Defense & Freedom-to-Operate (FTO): Oversee global patent landscapes, managing FTO analyses, trade secrets, and proprietary technology licensing to defend the enterprises technical innovations against competitors.
- Institutional Knowledge Systemization: Codify scientific knowledge, process formulations, and analytical methods into a secure, centralized organizational tech library.
4. Global Regulatory Affairs & Compliance:
- Regulatory Defense as a Competitive Advantage: Direct the global regulatory strategy, navigating complex regional frameworks (FDA, EFSA, FSSAI, REACH, Novel Food approvals) to clear pathways for new ingredients and market expansions.
- Global Quality & Contaminant Science: Establish group-wide technical standards for pesticide residue management, heavy metal analysis, authenticity testing, and adulteration detection across all global raw material supply chains.
- Policy & Trend Anticipation: Monitor global regulatory changes, positioning the group's product portfolio ahead of chemical/ingredient restrictions to protect clients from supply disruption.
5. Technical Governance across Solutions Businesses:
- Functional Oversight of Divisional Technical Leads: Provide scientific direction, technical governance, and resource allocation to the functional heads leading specific solutions divisions including taste, fragrance, natural colors.
- Cross-Divisional Synergy: Foster cross-functional technical collaboration between extraction scientists, application flavorists, color chemists, and regulatory specialists to deliver multi-functional client solutions.
