Key Responsibilities
New Product Development (NPD)
- Prioritize and lead new product and category development based on deep dives into customer needs, churn analysis, post-closure Return Not Mismatched (RNM) cost data, and prevailing market trends.
- Work closely with our design, operations, and procurement teams to launch and scale new SKUs efficiently.
Conversion & Page Optimization
- Drive significant improvements on category and product listing pages to boost user experience, increase conversion rates, and enhance Item Per User (IPU).
- Collaborate with product and growth teams to rigorously test UI/UX changes, product bundling strategies, and personalized recommendations.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work hand-in-hand with finance, growth, and procurement heads to ensure complete alignment on pricing strategy, inventory planning, vendor capabilities, and overarching business goals.
- Coordinate with our supply chain team to maintain clear visibility on demand, production schedules, and optimize warehouse space planning.
Lifecycle Management & Insights
- Continuously track category health through key performance metrics such as revenue, yield, cost, and churn.
- Utilize SQL and other analytical tools to drive data-backed decision-making on churn recovery, post-use costs, and essential product iterations.
- Identify and implement actions to extend product lifecycle and reduce repair costs through proactive, preventive interventions.
Category Strategy & Ownership
- Take full end-to-end P&L ownership for assigned categories, with a relentless focus on revenue growth, yield optimization, and cost efficiency.
- Lead SKU-level pricing actions, including comprehensive competition benchmarking, dynamic pricing adjustments, and initiatives for margin improvement.
- Drive category-level yield management and implement effective deadstock interventions to improve inventory turns and reduce non-performing SKUs.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Present compelling weekly and monthly performance reports, complete with actionable insights and clear action plans, to senior leadership.
- Facilitate structured communication with marketing, tech, CX, and business analyst teams to ensure smooth and coordinated category execution.
Requirements
- Experience: 25 years of relevant experience in category management, preferably within the furniture, home décor, or other consumer-facing lifestyle categories.
- Track Record: Proven ability to launch and scale new categories, and manage end-to-end assortment, pricing, sourcing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Analytical Prowess: Strong analytical mindset with hands-on proficiency in SQL and Excel for driving insights and performance tracking.
- P&L Management: Demonstrated experience in managing category P&L, with a sharp focus on growth, margins, and operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Ability to thrive in cross-functional, fast-paced environments, collaborating effectively with marketing, supply chain, design, and tech teams.
- Education: B.Tech or MBA preferred
