Refrigeration Head - Meat Plant

Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai for a Refrigeration Head in a meat processing plant. The Refrigeration Head will oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all refrigeration systems, ensuring consistent temperature control and product safety. Responsibilities include monitoring plant refrigeration performance, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, and supervising a team of technicians. The role will work closely with production, quality, and plant management to support daily operations, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with food safety, health, and environmental standards. The Refrigeration Head will also contribute to energy-efficiency initiatives, participate in budgeting for refrigeration-related expenses, and maintain documentation, logs, and records for audits and inspections.

Qualifications:

- Strong experience in plant operations and production management within a meat processing or cold-chain environment, with proven ability to oversee refrigeration systems end-to-end.

- Skills in production planning and coordinating refrigeration activities to align with processing schedules, throughput targets, and storage requirements.

- Background in quality control related to temperature-sensitive products, with understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance.

- Experience with budgeting and cost control for refrigeration equipment, maintenance, energy consumption, and related operational expenses.

- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Refrigeration, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant refrigeration certifications are an advantage.

- Hands-on knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia, freon, compressors, condensers, evaporators) and preventive maintenance practices.

- Ability to lead and train technical staff, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and communicate clearly with management and external service providers.

- Willingness to work in a meat plant environment and manage operations in shifts if required, with a strong focus on safety and emergency procedures.
