Position Overview

The Head - Slag Handling will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end slag handling operations, operational efficiency, project execution, client coordination, and business expansion initiatives.

The role requires deep operational expertise in slag management, smelting environments, industrial material handling systems, and large-scale plant operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership capability along with experience in managing complex industrial projects and multi-site operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

- Lead and manage slag handling operations across plants and industrial sites.

- Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of operational activities.

- Drive operational excellence, productivity improvements, and process optimization.

- Monitor plant performance, equipment utilization, manpower productivity, and service delivery standards.

Project Management:

- Lead greenfield and brownfield slag handling projects from planning to commissioning.

- Manage project timelines, budgets, vendor coordination, and resource allocation.

- Ensure timely execution of plant setup, expansion, and operational transition projects.

- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, maintenance, and client teams for seamless execution.

Client & Site Management:

- Maintain strong relationships with steel plants, smelters, and industrial clients.

- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, operational KPIs, and service quality standards.

- Support commercial discussions and operational reviews with customers.

Safety & Compliance:

- Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.

- Implement best practices in industrial safety, risk management, and process controls.

- Drive a strong culture of operational discipline and compliance across sites.

Team Leadership:

- Build and lead high-performing operational teams across multiple locations.

- Mentor plant teams, site managers, and operational staff.

- Develop succession planning and capability-building initiatives.

Strategic & Business Support:

- Identify operational improvement opportunities and new business possibilities within the industrial handling segment.

- Support management in evaluating expansion opportunities in slag handling and allied industrial services.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgical / Industrial or related disciplines preferred).

- 15+ years of experience in slag handling, smelting operations, industrial material handling, or related heavy industrial operations.

- Strong exposure to plant operations and project management.

- Experience working with steel plants, smelters, metal industries, or heavy industrial environments.

- Proven track record in managing large operational teams and multi-site projects.

- Strong understanding of industrial equipment, process operations, maintenance coordination, and project execution.

- Good leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.

- Willingness to travel across operational locations as required.
