Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager Legal - Global Trade & Compliance to provide comprehensive legal advice and counsel for Pratt & Whitney (PW)'s businesses in India. This critical role will oversee a broad range of legal issues, with a primary focus on compliance related to Global Trade, Finance, HR, and other regulatory areas. You will also offer legal support for supply chain, company secretarial compliance, corporate governance, contracts, real estate, and government affairs, acting as a custodian of all compliance and regulatory matters for PW India.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel on a wide array of legal issues, focusing on Global Trade, Finance, HR, and other regulatory compliance areas specific to Pratt & Whitneys businesses in India.
- Draft and review both day-to-day and transactional contracts pertinent to PW businesses operating within the India region.
- Collaborate closely with senior management and various functional groups to proactively identify and effectively manage legal risks and issues for PWs India businesses.
- Act as the primary custodian for all Compliance and Regulatory matters concerning the PW India Business and its Entities.
- Offer local law interpretation and serve as the main point of contact for local legal and regulatory issues.
- Provide strong support and work closely with, offering regular briefings to, the PW Global Legal team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across PW India, including commercial, operations, supply chain, compliance, and HR teams.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in all relevant areas of law to ensure continuous compliance and proactive advice.
- Effectively instruct and manage external counsel in a cost-effective manner to achieve desired legal outcomes.
- Develop and deliver relevant legal training programs to internal teams to enhance compliance awareness and understanding.
- Offer legal counsel and support for supply chain operations, company secretarial compliance, corporate governance frameworks, real estate matters, and interactions with government bodies.
Required Qualifications
- A Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate legal affairs, with significant exposure to global trade, compliance, and transactional law.
- Proven experience in providing legal counsel for businesses in India, with a strong understanding of local laws and regulations.
- Demonstrable expertise in Global Trade Compliance.
- Solid experience in drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial contracts.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and company secretarial compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex, fast-paced international environment.
