Role Overview:

As the Head of Legal, you will serve as the primary legal counsel for our Nigerian operations, overseeing the entire spectrum of corporate governance, regulatory affairs, and high-stakes litigation. You will work closely with the executive leadership team and regional stakeholders to navigate the intricate legal landscape of the Nigerian energy sector. This role is pivotal in safeguarding the company's commercial interests, ensuring seamless compliance with local statutes, and providing strategic counsel that enables the business to scale effectively while mitigating institutional risk.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the end-to-end legal strategy for Nigerian operations to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and local regulatory frameworks.

- Manage complex litigation and dispute resolution processes by coordinating with external counsel to protect the company's assets and reputation.

- Oversee corporate governance and secretarial functions to ensure full compliance with Nigerian company law and international standards.

- Draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts, joint venture agreements, and service level agreements to secure favourable business terms.

- Advise the board and senior management on legislative changes and regulatory shifts that impact the energy and technology services landscape.

- Establish and maintain proactive relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry associations to facilitate smooth business operations.

Required Skillset:

- Possess 18 - 25 years of extensive legal experience, specifically within the oil and gas or infrastructure sectors in Nigeria.

- Demonstrate deep expertise in Nigerian corporate law, contract management, and the ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional legal challenges.

- Exhibit exceptional leadership capabilities with a proven track record of managing large legal teams and cross-functional stakeholders in high-pressure environments.

- Communicate complex legal concepts with clarity and precision to non-legal stakeholders, including board members and international partners.

- Hold a degree in Law (LLB/LLM).

- Show high adaptability to the on-site work environment in Nigeria, demonstrating the cultural intelligence required to operate effectively in a diverse, fast-paced international business setting.
