Role Overview :

The Deputy Head of Accounts will serve as a pivotal financial leader based in Nigeria, overseeing the entire accounting and financial operations for our regional business units. This role involves working closely with the country management team, regional stakeholders, and external auditors to ensure the integrity of financial data. You will be responsible for driving fiscal discipline, optimizing cost structures, and ensuring that all financial reporting aligns with international standards, ultimately safeguarding the companys assets and supporting strategic decision-making in a high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities :

- Direct the full spectrum of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance and financial closing, to ensure accurate and timely reporting for regional operations.

- Spearhead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, providing actionable insights to senior leadership to improve profitability and resource allocation.

- Implement and monitor robust internal control frameworks to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.

- Manage treasury operations, including cash flow planning, liquidity management, and foreign exchange risk mitigation, to support ongoing project requirements.

- Oversee comprehensive costing models for oil and gas projects, ensuring that project margins are accurately tracked and variances are addressed promptly.

- Lead the preparation of financial statements in strict accordance with IFRS, ensuring transparency for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

- Mentor and develop the local finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and professional accountability.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex financial operations within the Oil & Gas industry, with a deep understanding of project-based accounting and cost control.

- Proven ability to navigate IFRS reporting requirements and complex tax environments, specifically within the Nigerian regulatory framework.

- Exceptional analytical capabilities, with a track record of translating financial data into strategic business recommendations for executive leadership.

- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, auditors, and international partners.

- A qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with 18 - 25 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles.

- High level of adaptability and resilience, with the ability to lead operations effectively in an on-site, fast-paced international environment.
