Job Description : We are looking for a Head Legal at Mountainia Hospitality to lead our legal department and oversee all legal matters of our hospitality business. You will be responsible for providing strategic and operational guidance to the senior management and ensuring legal compliance across the business. Mountainia is an India focused hospitality assets owner and asset manager with focus on acquiring operating assets in economy, mid-scale and upscale segment. Mountainia is backed by capital from SoftBank Group and Oravel Stays Private Limited and led by a professional management team with strong hospitality industry experience and track record of acquiring 30 hotels across India. Mountainia has acquired ~400 rooms across 4 hotels in 4 different cities and are continuously looking to expand the portfolio. The aforesaid 3 hotels are in Jaipur, Chandigarh, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. Responsibilities: - Lead the acquisition of upscale and midscale hotels across India, including legal due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration - Negotiate, implement and ensure compliance with the investment/shareholders' agreement - Oversee the compliance and secretarial functions of the business and ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements - Evaluate and advise stakeholders on structuring options for transactions and the organisation - Implement governance and compliance policies - Lead and manage the legal department - Implement key legal processes and standards - Analyse and identify the legal risks and implications of all business transactions and advise the senior management accordingly - Manage litigation issues such as contract disputes, product liability, and employment matters - Review and provide advice on applicable contracts required for the operation of the business - Instruct and assist external legal partners where necessary - Monitor and report on any changes in laws and regulations that potentially affect the business - Contribute to the business strategy and decision-making processes alongside other departmental leaders - Mentor and coach key legal personnel and support their professional growth Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent - 10 to 14 years of experience in legal practice, preferably in the hospitality industry and/or mergers and acquisitions - Candidates with both law firm and in-house experience will be preferred - Proven leadership and management skills - Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations related to hospitality, contracts, employment, intellectual property, data privacy, and cyber security - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills - Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, stakeholders, and external partners - High ethical standards and integrity
