National Legal Manager - BFSI

Job Summary

The National Legal Manager will lead and manage the legal and compliance functions for Company. The candidate will bring deep expertise in legal matters specifically related to lending and compliance within the BFSI industry. He/she will ensure full regulatory compliance, mitigate legal risks, oversee contract management, and support all legal aspects of lending operations across the company.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic legal advisory and compliance support for the lending business,ensuring adherence to RBI regulations and NBFC guidelines.

- Review, draft, and negotiate all types of lending contracts including loan agreements, vendor contracts, channel partner agreements, and other commercial documents.

- Oversee and ensure compliance with applicable laws such as the Contract Act, Companies Act, Consumer Protection Act, IT Act, SARFAESI Act, and other relevant statutes.

- Collaborate closely with business, compliance, collections, and risk teams to support business initiatives while minimizing legal and regulatory risks.

- Manage relationships with external legal counsel for litigation, recovery, and other legal matters related to lending and business operations.

- Conduct legal audits, develop legal policies and training related to lending operations and compliance for internal teams.

- Handle legal implications of lending policies, credit structuring, and recovery processes, including enforcement strategies under relevant laws.

- Lead and manage the legal and compliance team on a national level, ensuring effective legal risk management across regions.

- Prepare regular legal and compliance reports for senior management and regulators.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor of Arts (BA) + Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is required.

- A minimum of 10 years of experience in legal and compliance roles within the BFSI sector, with specific exposure to lending operations in NBFCs or banks.

- Strong knowledge of lending laws, regulatory frameworks, legal compliances, and litigation management in the financial services industry.

- Proven track record of handling legal and compliance matters related to lending, collections, and recovery processes.

- Experience in managing external counsel, legal audits, contract negotiations, and regulatory liaison.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Location: Candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to Delhi NCR.

Reporting Structure

- Reports to the Chief Legal Officer or Senior Leadership of company

- Responsible for managing a team and coordinating legal functions across multiple regions.
