ROLE PROFILE

JOB TITLE : Manager - HR

REPORT TO : Sr. Manager - HR

FUNCTION : Human Resources

LOCATION : Bengaluru Unit should be eventually open to other plant locations

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure a stable, fair, and collaborative employee relations climate in the manufacturing facility. The role is responsible for driving constructive union engagement, strengthening statutory and IR governance, and safeguarding business continuity through proactive relationship management and issue resolution. The position serves as the key IR custodian for the unit, balancing workforce expectations with organizational priorities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Relations & Union Engagement

- Maintain and strengthen harmonious relations with union representatives through regular dialogue, trustbuilding, and transparent communication.

- Handle daytoday grievances, disputes, and disputes escalations in a timely, fair, and compliant manner.

- Lead or support negotiations with union office bearers on operational, welfare, productivity, and policy matters.

- Identify potential IR risks and implement preventive strategies to minimize conflict and ensure uninterrupted operations.

- Ensure compliance with labour laws, standing orders, and internal HR policies.

Statutory & HR Governance

- Oversee statutory adherence under all applicable labour regulations and ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

- Support management on compliance, discipline, and conduct issues to maintain a uniform and fair approach across departments.

Workforce Management & Factory HR Support

- Serve as the primary HR/IR support to departmental stakeholders, ensuring consistent application of HR practices across shifts and units.

- Facilitate manpower deployment, transfers, and movement in line with operational and IR considerations.

Capability Building

- Implement training interventions related to IR awareness, disciplinary process management, and supervisory capability building.

Talent Acquisition Support

- Support recruitment for critical roles across the unit to ensure adequate staffing and continuity, especially in unionized and supervisory layers.

- Continuously assess talent availability trends relevant to factory operations.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT:

- Strong understanding of labour laws/ codes

- Experience handling unionized workforce and collective bargaining scenarios.

- Knowledge of industrial psychology, employee behaviour, and conflict resolution.

- Familiarity with disciplinary processes, domestic enquiries, and grievance redressal mechanisms.

- Practical understanding of factory HR dynamics and statutory documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

- MBA-HR from tier 1 B Schools here (XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, MDI, SIBM) preferably from 2022/2023 batches
