Role Overview
We are hiring an experienced HR Manager for a leading retail organization based in Mumbai. This role is critical in managing end-to-end HR operations for a large, frontline-heavy workforce while partnering closely with business leaders to drive people strategies aligned with business goals.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in retail HR operations, employee relations, compliance, talent management, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End HR Operations:
- Manage complete HR lifecycle including onboarding, exits, documentation, HRMIS, attendance, and payroll coordination.
- Ensure smooth implementation of HR policies, processes, and SOPs across corporate and store operations.
- Act as the single point of contact for HR matters for assigned business units.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management:
- Drive end-to-end hiring for retail stores and HO functions in collaboration with TA teams.
- Support workforce planning, manpower budgeting, and attrition management.
- Ensure timely staffing for new store openings and peak retail seasons.
Employee Engagement & Performance Management:
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to improve morale, productivity, and retention.
- Manage performance management processes including goal setting, appraisals, and feedback cycles.
- Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
Compliance & Labour Law Management:
- Ensure adherence to Indian labour laws and statutory compliances relevant to retail.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and statutory filings.
- Maintain discipline, compliance hygiene, and documentation across stores.
HR Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with business leaders, store managers, and operations heads.
- Provide HR insights and people solutions aligned with operational and business needs.
- Support change management, culture building, and leadership initiatives.
Policy Implementation & Process Improvement:
- Review, implement, and strengthen HR policies and internal processes.
- Drive continuous improvement in HR efficiency, governance, and employee experience.
- Support HR analytics and reporting for leadership reviews.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Must-Have:
- 8+ years of experience in HR within the retail industry
- Strong exposure to end-to-end HR operations
- Hands-on experience managing large frontline retail workforce
- Sound knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance
- Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders
Good-to-Have:
- Experience working with multi-store or pan-India retail formats
- Exposure to fast-scaling or high-growth retail environments
- Strong HR analytics and reporting capability
