About the Role:
A reputed Multinational Manufacturing Organization is looking for a Manager - Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) to lead and strengthen its safety culture and compliance framework based out of Ahmednagar.
This position has overall responsibility for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) across the organization, reporting directly to the Market President - India. The role will drive safety leadership, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and cultural transformation, ensuring sustainable and incident-free operations.
The position also involves periodic travel to the Pune office (3-4 days per month).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Culture Building:
- Lead and embed a proactive safety culture across manufacturing operations.
- Drive safety leadership, behavioural safety programs, and workforce engagement.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on all EHS matters.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives aligned with zero accident and incident goals.
EHS Systems & Compliance:
- Implement, manage, and sustain ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems.
- Ensure full compliance with local regulations, company standards, and global EHS frameworks.
- Oversee implementation of Permit-to-Work systems, LOTO, confined space, work-at-height, and machine safety programs.
- Act as the site champion for regulatory audits, inspections, and certifications.
Risk Management & Incident Prevention:
- Lead risk assessment and safety management systems (HAZID, Bow-tie, HAZOP).
- Drive incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions using TapRoot, 5 Whys, and RCA tools.
- Oversee contractor safety management and outsourced work safety protocols.
Operational Safety & Industrial Hygiene:
- Manage programs for fire safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, hazardous material handling, PPE selection, and machine guarding.
- Implement manual handling, workplace ergonomics, and chemical safety standards.
- Oversee mental health awareness, employee wellbeing, and occupational health initiatives.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track and analyze EHS performance metrics (TRIFR, leading indicators, audits, inspections).
- Develop dashboards and reports for leadership reviews.
- Promote best practice sharing across sites and participation in global initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
Education & Certifications:
- Degree in Engineering / Science / related discipline.
- Advanced Diploma / Certification in Industrial Safety from a reputed institute.
- NEBOSH Diploma or National Equivalent (highly preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in Environment, Health & Safety leadership roles.
- Strong exposure in manufacturing / industrial environments.
- Proven track record in EHS system implementation, audits, and cultural transformation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, influencing & stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication, training & coaching capabilities.
- High level of independence, ownership & execution excellence.
- Strong knowledge of Indian statutory compliance & global EHS standards.
