Manager Engineering Patent Searching
We are looking for an experienced Manager Engineering Patent Searching to lead a high-performing IP research team. This role involves managing large teams, delivering complex patent research projects, handling global clients, and ensuring high-quality outcomes across IP services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of ~25 IP professionals in the Engineering domain
Deliver end-to-end IP research services including:
- Patentability (novelty) and validity searches
- Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) and infringement analysis
- Patent portfolio analysis, SWOT, and monetization support
- Litigation, prosecution, and office action support
- IP due diligence and patent claim mapping
- Interact with clients to define project scope and present clear, actionable insights
- Conduct patent landscape and trend analysis for strategic and licensing opportunities
- Review patents from technical, legal, and commercial perspectives
- Ensure timely delivery, quality control, and client satisfaction
- Drive team performance, mentoring, and development
- Manage key client accounts and support business growth initiatives
Experience Required:
- 810 years of experience in IP research and consulting
- Strong experience in project delivery, client handling, and team leadership
- Prior experience managing medium to large teams (20+ members)
- Hands-on exposure to patent search, analysis, and landscape projects
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines
- Adaptability to new technologies and IP processes
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in patent search tools and online databases
- Good understanding of global patent laws and systems
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and reporting tools
- Strong documentation and analytical reporting skills
Education:
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering
