Manager - Contracts & Claims ( Must be a Civil Engineering Graduate ) Position Objective : To ensure contract compliance, legal risk mitigation, and effective dispute resolution, thereby protecting the company's commercial and legal interests in infrastructure and waste management projects. Key Responsibilities : 1. Contract Management & Negotiation - Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and finalization of contracts, NDAs, MoUs, and JV agreements. - Manage the entire contract lifecycle from pre-tendering to post-tendering stages. - Provide guidance to project and operations teams on contractual adherence, liabilities, and risk allocation. - Ensure all contracts are in alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and client obligations. 2. Legal Drafting & Advisory - Draft and vet legal notices, replies, and contractual communications. - Interpret contractual clauses and advise management on legal and commercial implications. - Prepare documentation and opinions on contractual issues to support decision-making. 3. Claims & Dispute Resolution - Handle claims preparation, evaluation, and negotiations arising during project execution. - Lead the resolution of contractual disputes, arbitration, and mediation matters. - Coordinate with external counsel for litigation and arbitration support. - Represent the company before courts, arbitration panels, and tribunals when required. 4. Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with Business Development, Proposals, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure contract compliance and risk mitigation. - Provide contractual support during bidding and project execution phases. - Build awareness of contractual conditions and obligations among project managers, site teams, and business heads. 5. Governance & Leadership - Establish frameworks for standardized contract management practices across projects. - Provide leadership in arbitration and claims management. - Mentor and support junior staff in developing contractual and legal competencies. Competencies: Domain Knowledge : - Strong understanding of contract law principles, dispute resolution mechanisms, arbitration practices, and compliance frameworks. - Knowledge of FIDIC conditions, Indian Contracts Act, and infrastructure project contracts (Roads, Irrigation, Railways, Airports). Technical Skills : - Expertise in contract drafting, claims assessment, negotiation, and resolution. - Proficiency in using legal research tools and financial analysis for contracts. Leadership Attributes : - Ability to build and lead cross-functional teams. - High tolerance to ambiguity, resilience, and decision-making under pressure. - Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Qualification & Experience : - Must be a Civil Engineering Graduate (mandatory). - Additional qualifications in Contract Management / Law / Arbitration preferred. - 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure projects (roads, irrigation, railways, airports) with exposure to contracts and claims management.
