
Role Objective:
Responsible for handling documentation, providing legal advice, negotiating lease agreements, managing property and land acquisition, as well as overseeing litigation matters of Malabar Group.
Role & responsibilities:
- Responsible for drafting and vetting of various deeds, agreements, court documents etc.
- Ensure that processes and procedures are followed in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Coordinate with Corporate Affairs and Directors for resolutions of new showrooms.
- Maintain register of agreements and contacts, property documentation of files and documents.
- Provide legal advice to management, departments, and other verticals on Legal issues.
- Advise and update Management on changes/amendment to Acts, Rules, and Regulations etc.
- Advise and inform management regarding compliance and significance of legislation.
- Provide guidance to management to mitigate legal risks and plan legal strategy.
- Maintain Leasing documents for commercial units.
- Manage Letter of Intent, Lease Agreement and other legal documents.
- Prepare Sale deed and Staff Accommodation deed of Malabar Group.
- Ensure that Malabar Group is adequately represented and litigate on behalf of the group.
- Address the legal issues of Malabar Group in an effective manner.
- File and defend legal suits/petitions etc. for and on behalf of Malabar Group.
- Issue notices and reply notices for and behalf of the company.
- Responsible for planning Liaising with local advocates.
- Maintain registers of agreements and contracts, register documents, register of leased premises.
- Ensure proper payment of government dues through comprehensive supervision.
- Conduct a title search and legal review of title documents, and coordinate with external counsel to obtain the title search report.
- Responsible for registration of the title deeds for and on behalf of the company.
Requirements:
- LL.B from a recognized university.
- 20 to 25 years of post-qualification experience in Legal Affairs.
- Mandatory experience in the Retail industry, preferably with large multi-location retail organizations.
- Strong expertise in property and land acquisition, leasing, contract management, litigation, and compliance.
- Proven experience in drafting and vetting agreements, deeds, leases, notices, and other legal documents.
- Experience in handling title due diligence, property documentation, registrations, and lease negotiations.
- Ability to manage litigation matters and coordinate with external advocates and government authorities.
- Sound knowledge of corporate laws, regulatory requirements, and statutory compliances.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide strategic legal advice to senior management and support business expansion initiatives.
