Role Overview:

Malabar Group is seeking an accomplished Learning & Development Manager (Product Trainer Diamond Jewelry) to lead the organizations capability development strategy in the luxury retail domain. The ideal candidate will be an expert in diamond jewellery, possess strong gemological knowledge, and have extensive experience designing and delivering high-impact training programs for luxury retail professionals.

This role will directly contribute to elevating the brands service excellence, product expertise, and customer experience across all retail formats.

Key Responsibilities:

Learning Strategy & Leadership:

- Drive the Learning & Development vision in alignment with the Head L&D and organizational goals.

- Develop, manage, and implement end-to-end L&D strategies for the diamond jewellery vertical.

- Set up frameworks, policies, and standards that strengthen the learning culture across the organisation.

Training Design & Delivery:

- Design, curate, and deliver scalable learning programs across retail stores, corporate functions, and field operations.

- Develop and conduct specialized training programs focused on:

- Diamond product knowledge

- Gemology

- Luxury sales

- Customer service excellence

- High-value transaction management

- Ensure all training materials reflect the Malabar Gold & Diamonds luxury brand ethos and global standards.

Technical & Gemological Training:

- Collaborate with international gemological partners (IGI, GIA, PGI) to design and execute technical training modules.

- Provide deep-dive sessions on diamond grading, quality parameters, certifications, craftsmanship, and jewellery manufacturing processes.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Partner closely with retail operations, HR, marketing, merchandising, and regional leadership teams to identify capability gaps and training needs.

- Support new store openings with tailored learning programs and onboarding initiatives.

- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships to ensure seamless delivery of L&D initiatives.

Training Operations & Program Management:

- Develop and manage annual training calendars, ensuring timely rollout of learning interventions.

- Monitor, evaluate, and report on training effectiveness using assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.

- Continuously improve training content based on industry trends, learner insights, and business goals.

Brand & Service Excellence:

- Uphold and reinforce the Malabar luxury brand ethos in all learning initiatives.

- Equip frontline teams with skills to deliver exceptional customer experiences across high-value segments.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Business, HR, Learning & Development, Retail Management, or a related field.

- 11-14 years of experience in Learning & Development, preferably in luxury retail, jewellery, gems & jewellery, or lifestyle brands.

- Strong expertise in diamond jewellery, gemology, product training, and certification standards.

- Proven experience designing and delivering high-impact behavioural, technical, and product training programs.

- Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to manage large-scale learning initiatives across multiple locations.

Preferred Skills:

- Certifications from GIA, IGI, PGI, or other recognised gemology institutes.

- Experience in L&D roles within premium/luxury retail environments.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

- Strong analytical mindset with experience in training evaluation and reporting.
