Job Summary
The Legal Manager will be responsible for managing the organizations end-to-end legal function, providing strategic and operational legal support across business units.
The role involves ownership of contract management, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and policy governance, while acting as a trusted legal advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams across India and global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage the end-to-end lifecycle of contracts, including drafting, vetting, negotiation, and finalization of agreements across clients, vendors, marketing, leasing, HR, and operational functions.
- Ensure all legal documents are aligned with company policies, risk appetite, and applicable laws.
- Support commercial negotiations by identifying legal risks and proposing pragmatic, business-aligned solutions.
- Provide proactive legal advice and counsel to business leaders and management to minimize legal and regulatory risks.
- Interpret and advise on regulatory changes impacting business operations and strategy.
- Collaborate closely with business heads across PAN-India and global markets, as well as with Finance, HR, and Operations teams on legal and compliance matters.
- Oversee regulatory and compliance matters for the company and its subsidiaries and associate entities.
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws, internal policies, product guidelines, and operational standards.
- Lead the implementation and ongoing monitoring of data protection and privacy laws, policies, and compliance frameworks.
- Act as the primary legal point of contact for key clients, vendors, and partners, including managing relationships with their legal teams.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and consultants as required.
- Handle all legal matters of the organization and maintain legal trackers, repositories, and documentation.
- Ensure timely updates, renewals, and compliance reporting across legal domains.
- Support new business initiatives by providing legal inputs during structuring and execution.
- Lead the creation, review, and modification of legal processes, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and governance.
- Drive continuous improvement in legal operations and risk management practices.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in commercial contracts, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in handling complex contract negotiations independently.
- Sound understanding of Indian laws and regulations, with exposure to global legal frameworks being an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with data protection and privacy laws and their business impact.
- Ability to balance legal risk management with commercial objectives.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including interaction with senior leadership.
- High attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and process orientation.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Law (LLB or equivalent)
- Additional qualifications or certifications in corporate law, compliance, or data protection will be an advantage
