About the Role
The Legal Head Leasing will be responsible for providing end-to-end legal support for leasing activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and mitigating legal risks. This role involves leading the legal function related to commercial leasing, negotiating and drafting lease agreements, handling disputes, and working closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities & KRAs
- Provide legal advisory and support for all leasing-related matters including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating lease agreements, addendums, renewals, and related contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies across leasing operations.
- Strategize and manage legal risk mitigation for leasing transactions.
- Lead dispute resolution processes related to leasing, including negotiations, arbitration, and litigation management.
- Collaborate with business, operations, and finance teams to align legal strategy with business goals.
- Draft and update standard lease templates, policies, and guidelines to maintain consistency and legal robustness.
- Review and manage lease-related statutory compliances and filings.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsels and consultants, ensuring quality and cost-effective legal services.
- Monitor legal developments and advise on changes impacting leasing practices.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on lease-related legal matters.
- Prepare periodic legal reports and escalate critical issues to senior management.
- Support due diligence and documentation during property acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships related to leasing.
Key Skill Sets Required
- Strong expertise in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) law and lease agreement drafting.
- In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance related to property and leasing laws.
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgment with the ability to provide practical legal solutions aligned with business needs.
- Proven experience in dispute resolution, including handling litigations, arbitrations, and legal claims.
- Ability to work independently in a high-paced environment.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution; advanced qualifications like LLM or Company Secretary are a plus.
