Legal Strategy & Leadership: - Lead and manage the legal function, providing strategic legal advice to the executive team and business units. - Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and controls in alignment with global standards. Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: - Ensure compliance with local and international laws, industry regulations, and internal policies. - Monitor regulatory developments and advise on their impact on the business. - Oversee ethics and compliance training programs, including anti-bribery, data privacy (e.g., GDPR), and competition law. Contract Management: - Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts including procurement, distribution, marketing, sponsorship, and partnership agreements. - Implement best practices in contract lifecycle management to mitigate risk and ensure value creation. Litigation & Dispute Resolution: - Manage and coordinate all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters. - Liaise with external counsel, ensuring cost-effective and outcome-oriented legal representation. Stakeholder Management: - Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing clear, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented legal counsel. - Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all business units. - Represent company in external engagements with regulators, industry bodies, and third-party partners. Preferred candidate profile: - Law degree from an accredited institution; admission to practice law in relevant jurisdiction. - Minimum 14 years of post-qualification experience, including in-house counsel experience - Experience in a multinational or matrix organization is a strong advantage. - Legal Expertise: Strong background in corporate law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance. - Strategic Thinking: Ability to align legal strategy with business goals and influence decision-making. - Leadership: Proven experience managing legal teams and mentoring legal professionals. - Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships. - Ethical Judgement: High level of integrity, discretion, and sound legal judgment.
