About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Head / Chief Legal Officer to lead the organization's legal and regulatory functions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the real estate sector, with strong expertise in land acquisition, title due diligence, project documentation, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiations.

The role requires close collaboration with senior leadership, external legal counsel, government authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure legal compliance and mitigate business risks across all projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities :

Contract Management & Documentation :

- Draft, review, vet, negotiate, and finalize various legal agreements, including :

1. Development Agreements

2. Sale Deeds

3. Lease Agreements

4. Construction Contracts

5. Vendor and Service Agreements

6. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)

7. Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

8. Joint Venture and Partnership Agreements

- Provide legal opinions and guidance on contractual matters and business transactions.

Real Estate & Land Acquisition :

- Lead legal due diligence for land acquisitions and development projects.

- Conduct and oversee title verification, title searches, and property documentation.

- Identify legal risks associated with land transactions and recommend mitigation strategies.

- Support project teams in resolving land-related legal and regulatory issues.

Regulatory Compliance :

- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including :

1. RERA

2. MOFA

3. Companies Act

4. Municipal and Development Control Regulations

5. Land Revenue and Property Laws

6. Other state and central statutory requirements

- Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on their business impact.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution :

- Manage civil, commercial, regulatory, and property-related litigation.

- Coordinate with external advocates, legal consultants, and law firms.

- Develop litigation strategies and oversee dispute resolution matters.

- Represent the organization before government authorities, tribunals, and regulatory bodies as required.

Stakeholder Management :

- Liaise with government departments, registration offices, municipal authorities, RERA authorities, and regulatory agencies.

- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management and business teams.

- Support business expansion initiatives from a legal and compliance perspective.

Risk Management & Governance :

- Establish legal policies, compliance frameworks, and governance mechanisms.

- Identify legal risks across projects and business operations.

- Drive legal best practices and ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.

Required Skills & Experience :

- 20+ years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably with reputed real estate developers, construction companies, or infrastructure organizations.

- In-depth understanding of RERA, MOFA, Companies Act, and local municipal regulations.

- Ability to handle complex legal matters independently and provide strategic legal guidance to business leadership.

Educational Qualification :

- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.

- Additional qualifications such as LLM, Company Secretary (CS), or specialized certifications in Real Estate Law will be an added advantage.

Preferred Background :

- Experience working with reputed real estate developers or large-scale construction/infrastructure organizations.

- Proven track record of handling high-value land transactions, project legal documentation, and regulatory matters.
