Legal Counsel Role - India & South Asia


- We are currently retained by a Global MNC to hire Legal Counsel (India & South Asia) for them. As the Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal and compliance support for the region.

- The person will be taking charge of advising on commercial transactions, litigation, regulatory compliance, labour/employment, antitrust, import/export, and business transactions.

- The role emphasises supporting software and hardware solutions, conducting compliance investigations, and strengthening the company's control framework.

- Some key success factors for this role include effective communication of complex legal matters, influence in a matrix organisation, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collaborating with the South Asia team on Legal matters

- Responsible for Commercial transactions, contracts, litigation, regulatory compliance, labor/employment, antitrust, import/export, business transactions.

- Managing labor and employment matters in India and South Asia.

- Managing In-house legal work including software and hardware solutions, SaaS, cloud transactions.

- Responsible for Compliance Investigations, policy drafting, implementing SOPs, processes, tools.

- Contribute to F2F lawyer-led compliance training program.

- Simplify complex legal matters for non-lawyers.

To fit the bill, you must have:

- Law degree from a reputed university;

- 8-12 years' experience in law firm and MNC legal/compliance roles.

- Handled Commercial contract and corporate law, labor law and IT experience.

- Ethics and compliance investigations experience

- Knowledge of local and foreign compliance laws (FCPA, U.K. Bribery Act, antitrust laws); understanding of employee rights and obligations.

- Pragmatic, proactive, collaborative, with attention to detail.

- Ability to present solutions and influence senior management.

- Willingness to travel up to 30% within the region.
