We're looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to serve as the primary legal contact for all employment-related matters across our Asia-Pacific (APAC) locations. This role requires an accomplished lawyer with at least four years of relevant experience in employment law. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, business-oriented professional who can quickly assess issues, mitigate legal risks, and provide expert counsel to a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory: Serve as the main point of contact for employment law matters in APAC. You'll provide independent and sound legal advice on a wide range of issues, including employment contracts, recruiting, employee benefits, discrimination, harassment, and wage and working conditions.
Risk Management: Proactively manage and mitigate legal risks for the company. You'll advise business partners on risk mitigation strategies and support Human Resources in conducting internal investigations when needed.
Policy & Compliance: Partner with HR to recommend, implement, and continuously improve employment-related policies and procedures. You'll monitor new legal and regulatory developments and ensure the company's practices remain compliant.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Confidently interact with colleagues and stakeholders, translating complex legal principles into practical business solutions that can be easily understood and implemented.
Skills:
Legal Expertise: Minimum of four years of relevant employment law experience. Experience with other countries in APAC is preferred.
Advisory & Counseling: Proven ability to provide ad-hoc counseling and advice on employment law issues.
Risk Mitigation: Strong skills in managing and mitigating legal risks for a company.
Legal Acumen: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Professional Attributes: High level of professional integrity, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience & Education:
Experience: A minimum of five years of prior experience at a law firm or in a corporate in-house role.
Education: A Bachelor's and Master's degree from a recognized institution with top academic credentials is required.
Certification: Must be a member of the India bar in good standing.
