Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Vice President - Engineering to lead and scale the engineering organization. This role requires a strong mix of technical leadership, people management, system design expertise, and strategic thinking.

You will be responsible for building high-performing teams, defining the technical vision, and ensuring the secure, scalable, and reliable delivery of products. The role involves close collaboration with Product, Business, Design, and Leadership teams to translate business objectives into strong technical execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Strategy:

- Define and drive the overall engineering vision, architecture, and execution strategy

- Translate business and product goals into technical roadmaps and delivery plans

- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, maintainable, and cost-efficient

- Take ownership of technology stack decisions, architecture patterns, and build-vs-buy choices

Team Building & Management:

- Build, mentor, and scale engineering teams across frontend, backend, QA, DevOps, and data

- Define roles, career paths, performance metrics, and development plans

- Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning

- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning

Delivery & Execution:

- Ensure timely and predictable delivery of features and releases

- Drive agile practices, sprint planning, and execution discipline

- Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, reviews, and documentation

- Manage escalations related to production issues, outages, and critical bugs

Architecture & System Design:

- Guide system design for APIs, microservices, databases, and integrations

- Ensure best practices for security, authentication, authorization, and data privacy

- Lead decisions around monolith vs microservices, caching, async processing, and real-time systems

- Optimize system performance, reliability, and cost at scale

DevOps, Security & Reliability:

- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment strategies

- Ensure robust security, monitoring, logging, and incident response mechanisms

- Partner with DevOps teams to improve uptime, observability, and infrastructure automation

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Partner with Product teams on prioritization and feasibility

- Collaborate with Design teams for usability and technical alignment

- Work with Business and Leadership teams on planning, budgeting, and risk management

- Communicate technical decisions effectively to non-technical stakeholders

Key Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience in software engineering

- Strong hands-on experience in full-stack development (frontend, backend, databases)

- Deep expertise in JavaScript / TypeScript and modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)

- Solid backend experience with Node.js, Express, or similar frameworks

- Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)

- Proven experience designing and scaling high-traffic production systems

- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, caching, async processing, and integrations

- Experience with authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth2, RBAC)

- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment workflows

- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Good to Have:

- Experience in FinTech / SaaS / B2B platforms

- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)

- Experience with microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes

- Familiarity with DevOps, SRE practices, and infrastructure cost optimization

- Experience managing distributed or remote teams

- Background in compliance-driven environments (financial systems, KYC, audit-heavy setups)
