Job Title: Lead Legal & Corporate Affairs

Location: Gurugram

Experience: 4 to 5 years

Reporting to: Head

Qualifications & Skills: Law degree LL.B (5 year)/LL.M from a recognized university (preferably National Law University); excellent communication and negotiation skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to work independently and within a team.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Lead Legal & Corporate Affairs to lead legal operations, provide strategic legal advice to the business, and mentor junior legal staff.

The role requires hands-on contract and litigation management, property due diligence, compliance oversight, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract & Litigation Management:

- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, NDAs and POAs, ensuring legal soundness and alignment with business objectives.

- Implement and maintain contract lifecycle management processes, systems and controls.

- Draft and respond to legal notices; manage all stages of litigation and legal disputes.

- Appear before courts, tribunals and quasi-judicial authorities as required; coordinate with and manage external counsel.

- Liaise with police and other authorities, prepare materials for filing complaints/FIRs and follow up to protect company interests.

Due Diligence of Properties:

- Conduct thorough title searches and document verification for properties; prepare clear title search reports and risk assessments.

- Coordinate with registrars, local authorities and external experts to validate property records and support transaction decisions.

Compliance Management:

- Monitor, audit and enforce compliance across support offices, regional offices and warehouses (including labour law, local law and commercial compliance).

- Obtain and renew statutory licenses, registrations and approvals for the Company and its stores in a timely manner.

- Engage with regulatory, government and judicial authorities for approvals and ensure timely responses to statutory requirements.

- Evaluate the impact of current and proposed laws/regulations on operations and recommend mitigation strategies.

Legal Operations & Governance:

- Maintain trackers and dashboards to ensure timely handling of legal matters and follow-ups with stakeholders and external counsel.

- Develop, document and evolve robust legal and compliance SOPs, templates and policies.

- Drive process improvements and implement best practices in contract lifecycle management and legal operations.

- Provide training to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.

Advisory & Team Leadership:

- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on corporate affairs and legal risk.

- Mentor and guide junior legal staff; allocate work and oversee performance in the Legal Department.

Other Responsibilities:

- Handle day-to-day legal tasks as required, research new laws and drive implementation with relevant stakeholders.

The Lead will be expected to act as a key legal partner to senior management, continuously improving processes and ensuring legal risks are identified and managed effectively.
