Lead - Cyber Security - Consulting Firm - Contractual Role

Our client is a global consulting firm partnering with a mid-size private bank headquartered in Mumbai for a high-impact cybersecurity transformation project.

This engagement is a cornerstone of the bank's efforts to significantly strengthen its security posture, enhance digital resilience, and build robust defences against the evolving threat landscape. As the lead consultant, you will bring deep cybersecurity leadership to drive strategy, execution, and cultural change on the ground - delivering measurable improvements in risk management and compliance while positioning the bank for sustainable security maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the overall cybersecurity transformation program, owning strategy formulation, detailed roadmap execution, and establishment of enhanced governance and operating models

- Collaborate closely with the bank's senior leadership (CISO, CIO, business heads) and the global consulting firm's delivery team to make critical on-the-ground decisions and accelerate implementation

- Perform in-depth risk and maturity assessments, identify priority gaps, and design/implement targeted security controls, processes, and incident response enhancements

- Lead executive steering committee meetings, facilitate cross-functional workshops, and align cybersecurity priorities with business objectives and regulatory expectations

- Provide expert guidance on emerging threats, best-in-class frameworks, and practical solutions tailored to a mid-size Indian private bank environment

- Mentor and upskill the bank's internal security team to ensure knowledge transfer and long-term ownership of the transformed capabilities

Your Background:

- 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with a strong track record of leading large-scale security transformations and programs as a senior leader

- Current or former CISO, Deputy CISO, Head of Information Security, or equivalent senior cybersecurity leadership role - experience can come from banking, non-banking financial institutions, technology companies, consumer-facing organisations, or other regulated/high-threat industries

- Proven ability to act as a true subject-matter expert who has independently owned cybersecurity strategy, execution, risk discussions, and stakeholder engagement at senior and board levels

- Deep domain expertise in enterprise cybersecurity, risk management, regulatory compliance, threat intelligence, and modern security architectures

- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills; comfortable driving change and building credibility in complex, matrixed environments

- This is a 9-month (extendable) contractual opportunity based in Mumbai. There is a high probability of conversion to a full-time senior leadership role with the consulting firm. If you have the needed experience and skill sets, we encourage you to apply!
