Role Overview:
The Senior Manager Legal will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support to L'Oreal India's business operations. This position involves managing a wide range of legal matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, litigation management, compliance, intellectual property protection, and data privacy. The role requires close collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including business teams, finance, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure legal risks are identified and mitigated effectively, contributing directly to the company's sustainable growth and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including distribution agreements, supply agreements, marketing agreements, and service agreements, to protect the company's interests and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, working closely with external counsel to develop strategies, manage costs, and achieve favorable outcomes for the company.
- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, including anti-corruption laws, competition laws, and data privacy regulations.
- Advise the business on intellectual property matters, including trademark registration, protection of trade secrets, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, to safeguard the company's brand and innovations.
- Provide legal guidance on data protection and privacy matters, ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, including the development and implementation of data privacy policies and procedures.
- Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on a variety of legal issues, including regulatory matters, product liability, and advertising claims, to support informed decision-making by the business.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and develop strategies to mitigate those risks, protecting the company from potential liabilities and reputational damage.
- Conduct training sessions for employees on legal and compliance matters, promoting a culture of legal awareness and ethical conduct within the organization.
Required Skillset:
- Possesses strong contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation skills, demonstrated by the ability to create and manage complex commercial agreements.
- Exhibits expertise in litigation management, including developing legal strategies, managing external counsel, and achieving favorable outcomes in disputes.
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of compliance principles and practices, with the ability to develop and implement effective compliance programs.
- Displays proficiency in intellectual property law, including trademark registration, protection of trade secrets, and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
- Exhibits strong knowledge of data protection and privacy laws, with the ability to develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
- Holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and is a qualified Company Secretary (CS).
- Demonstrates 8-12 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the FMCG or related industry.
