About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organisation's finance function and play a key role in driving sustainable business growth.

The CFO will be responsible for financial strategy, planning and analysis, cash-flow management, accounting, compliance, controls, risk management and business performance. The role will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to provide data-driven insights and enable informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate should combine strong financial expertise with a deep understanding of business operations and be comfortable working in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Strategy & Business Partnering:

- Develop and execute the organisation's overall financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.

- Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic and commercial decisions.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve profitability, scalability and business performance.

- Evaluate new business opportunities, investments, expansion plans and strategic initiatives from a financial perspective.

- Establish financial KPIs and performance metrics across business functions.

2. Financial Planning & Analysis:

- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning process.

- Drive monthly and quarterly financial reviews with business leaders.

- Analyse revenue, margins, costs, profitability and business-unit performance.

- Develop dashboards and MIS for leadership and board-level decision-making.

- Identify financial trends, risks and opportunities and proactively recommend corrective actions.

3. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management:

- Own the organisation's cash-flow planning and working capital management.

- Ensure effective management of collections, receivables, payables and liquidity.

- Develop mechanisms to improve collections and optimise cash conversion.

- Monitor cash requirements and ensure adequate liquidity for business operations.

- Establish strong controls around cash, credit and customer receivables.

4. Accounting & Financial Controls:

- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, month-end and year-end closure processes.

- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements and management reports.

- Strengthen internal financial controls, approval mechanisms and processes.

- Drive automation and process improvements within the finance function.

- Ensure appropriate financial governance across all business units.

5. Compliance, Tax & Audit:

- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation laws and statutory requirements.

- Lead statutory, internal and financial audits.

- Work closely with auditors, tax advisors, legal teams and external consultants.

- Ensure timely completion of statutory filings and regulatory requirements.

- Identify and mitigate financial, regulatory and operational risks.

6. Business & Commercial Finance:

- Partner with Sales, Operations, HR, Procurement and other business functions to improve financial outcomes.

- Evaluate pricing, margins, contracts and commercial arrangements.

- Support leadership in analysing customer profitability and unit economics.

- Review business proposals and contracts from financial and commercial perspectives.

- Drive cost optimisation without compromising business growth or customer experience.

7. Fundraising & Investor / Board Management:

- Lead financial aspects of fundraising, debt financing and strategic investment initiatives.

- Prepare investor and board-level financial presentations and reports.

- Manage relationships with investors, lenders, financial institutions and other stakeholders.

- Ensure financial data, forecasts and business metrics are investor-ready.

- Support due diligence processes and strategic transactions, including M&A, where applicable.

8. Team Leadership:

- Build, lead and develop a high-performing finance team.

- Establish clear roles, accountability, KPIs and performance standards within the finance function.

- Mentor finance leaders and build strong financial capabilities within the organisation.

- Create a culture of ownership, accuracy, compliance and business partnership.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- 15+ years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, controllership and business finance.

- Proven experience in a CFO / Finance Director / VP Finance / Head of Finance role, preferably in a growth-stage or mid-sized organisation.

- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital and business economics.

- Experience in building financial systems, controls and processes in a scaling organisation.

- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect financial metrics with business outcomes.

- Experience working closely with founders, CEOs, boards and investors.

- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- High level of integrity, ownership and attention to detail.

- CA / MBA Finance / equivalent qualification preferred.
