We are seeking a Vice-President specializing in the Instrument Reference Data space to join the Asset Reference Data Services Team, responsible for the delivery of internal client demands across the various Lines of Business' within JP Morgan. The role is based in Mumbai, India under Instrument & Common Reference data. The role will involve managing the Mumbai Index team, establishing a robust control framework and effective operating model. The successful candidate should be able to provide thought leadership and execution of the reference data operations strategy About ICAT Team: The Index Calculation Agent team (ICAT) in Mumbai is responsible for the daily valuation of fixed income instruments included in the JP Morgan's global fixed income flagship benchmarks, covering both developed and emerging markets. The team manages and runs the index calculation engine used for daily and monthly index operations, client reporting and publication generation. The team is also responsible for tracking market events, affecting bond price movements. The team interacts daily with the Global Index Research Group, a part of the JP Morgan Corporate Investment Banking Research, across its global footprint (in New York, London and Asia) to ensure that the index processes, requests and systems are operating efficiently. Key Responsibilities: - Responsible for contributing to the success and overall execution of daily third-party price capture & validation of bond prices in comparison to multiple market sources. Candidate should analyse price movements against market news and expectations - Recruit, train, and manage a team of individuals responsible for the creation/maintenance of the Instrument & Common Reference Data on our core platform. Run analytics for various bond types- Fixed, Floating, Sinking, Callable etc, Calculate & compare Accrued Interest and YTM and resolve discrepancies. - Liaise with pricing vendor to resolve pricing issues and minimize risk. Monitor systems for various jobs and resolve issues by working with technology teams. Prepare and send daily pricing and market impact summaries with supporting market news. Generate and maintain month-end Index rebalance and composition reports by garnering information on new bond issuance and auction/buy-back activities - Produce and analyze valuation movements within client portfolios on a daily and monthly basis. Complete all daily, monthly, and ad-hoc tasks and reporting as required. Resolve client (Global Index Research Group) queries promptly and professionally. Participate and present in client monthly meetings - Escalate all issues promptly and effectively to supervisor. Contribute to ongoing developments of the pricing control process - Responsible for Performance Management of team members as well as develop and coach of existing talent. Assist with defining and implementing a succession plan for members of the team. - Ensure proper controls are in place to reduce financial risks, implement procedures to enforce controls and ensure controls are adhered to. Project management capabilities on Operations initiatives and projects related to productivity, process streamlining and automation - Represent Operations views and concerns on initiatives that have both technology and operations components. Assist where needed with the management of the productivity stream and that will contribute to the annual productivity targets for Operations - Responsible for the timely execution of project tasks, stakeholder updates, resolving and escalating issues. Partner with technology team and Operations team to deliver change to our production environment. - Design and implement controlled operational processes to meet specific business needs. Candidate may also be required to perform Business Analysis tasks within the role in addition to the overall management of initiatives. Qualifications/Eligibility: - 10+ years' experience within Financial Services ideally in Index management/maintenance. In-depth knowledge of handling and managing Fixed Income Securities - Domain knowledge of various bond types, corporate actions of various asset classes, how to price a bond, calculating Net present Value (NPV), Accrued Interest (AI), Yield to Maturity (YTM), Cumulative Total Return (CTR) and other stats. Working experience with different vendors- Bloomberg, Reuters, Eikon, Datascope Select - Strong practical experience of Excel, Visio, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of at least one programming language (C++, R, Python, Alteryx, MATLAB) - People Management - candidate review and assessment, performance management, training and development planning, objective setting. Good leadership, influencing & communication skills with the ability to work with others at all levels and across disciplines in a virtual organization. - Experience in Operations Management, with solid risk and controls awareness. Demonstrated ability to think strategically with respect to data, technology, risk/control and operations agendas. Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and related experience - Ability to deal with issues on a global, cross business levels. Strong team attitude. Proactive and pragmatic approach - recognized as someone who get things done - Self-starter, able to work autonomously, under pressure and to fixed deadlines.
