Role Overview

The Head of Human Resources is a critical founding leadership role responsible for establishing and leading the entire HR function at Jagrutii Rehab Centre. This role requires a hands-on, strategic builder who can design, implement, and scale all HR policies, procedures, and systems from scratch to support our clinical excellence and organizational growth. The successful candidate will transition the organization from ad-hoc management to a structured, compliant, and high-performance people environment.

Key Responsibilities: Building the HR Foundation

The primary focus of this role is to establish the four pillars of HR infrastructure: Strategy, Compliance, Talent, and Culture.

A. HR Strategy & Policy Formulation

- Blueprint Creation: Design and implement comprehensive HR policies, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering the entire employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, payroll inputs, performance management, disciplinary action, and exit).

- System Implementation: Select, configure, and roll out a fit-for-purpose HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and related platforms (e.g., Attendance, Leave Management, Performance tracking).

- Compliance & Audit: Ensure the organization is fully compliant with all relevant labor laws, statutory requirements, and ethical guidelines specific to the healthcare/rehabilitation sector.

B. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

- Recruitment Strategy: Develop robust sourcing, interviewing, and selection methodologies tailored to finding highly specialized clinical and operational talent (counselors, therapists, medical staff, administrative support).

- Candidate Experience: Create a professional and positive recruitment and onboarding experience, including documentation and orientation programs, to drive early engagement and retention.

C. Performance, Compensation & Benefits (C&B)

- Performance Management: Introduce and manage a structured performance appraisal system (PMS), including goal setting (KRAs/KPIs), regular feedback mechanisms, and professional development planning.

- Compensation Structure: Develop and maintain a competitive and fair C&B structure, including salary benchmarking, incentive plans, and ensuring accuracy of all payroll inputs and processes.

D. Employee Relations & Culture

- Culture Building: Act as a champion for the organizational values and professional ethics essential to a rehab environment, fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-accountability culture.

- Dispute Resolution: Handle all employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflicts impartially and in line with established policies and legal requirements.

- Training & Development: Identify training needs for clinical and non-clinical staff and establish programs for mandatory compliance training and professional skill enhancement.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (MBA-HR), or a related field.

- Minimum of 8 years of professional HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role responsible for setting up the HR function from scratch in a growing organization (preferably 50-200 employees).

- Demonstrated experience in policy development, HRIS implementation, and payroll administration.

- In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, statutory compliance, and best practices in the healthcare, wellness, or rehabilitation sector is highly advantageous.

- Excellent track record of driving process standardization and employee compliance.

Skills and Competencies

- Strategic & Operational: Ability to think strategically about long-term growth while remaining highly hands-on with daily operational tasks.

- Process Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and compliance (essential for payroll, attendance, and statutory documentation).

- Communication & Empathy: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive employee matters with discretion and empathy.

- Change Management: Proven ability to introduce change effectively and manage resistance, ensuring smooth organizational adoption of new processes.

- Technologically Proficient: Strong experience with HRIS platforms, payroll software, and MS Office/Google Workspace.

If you are a builder passionate about shaping a positive and compliant workplace that supports mission-driven healthcare professionals, we encourage you to apply.
