Hiring for our leading portfolio company - Rusk Media (a Gen-Z-focused full-stack entertainment company curating content for audience through culturally relevant content on OTT platforms)

Role : General Counsel

Location : Mumbai


Roles & Responsibilities:

Legal & Corporate Governance:

- Act as the Chief Compliance Officer for Rusk Media under India's IT Act 2000, Intermediary Guidelines 2021, and other regulatory frameworks.

- Advise founders and the board on corporate governance, fundraising, and global structuring (India, UAE, US, APAC etc.).

- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with OTTs, broadcasters, brands, event partners, and talent.

- Oversee subsidiary and cross-border structures to optimize for tax efficiency, subsidies, and compliance.

Compliance & Regulatory:

- Build and run Rusk's compliance framework across anti-bribery, code of conduct, conflict-of-interest, and integrity programs.

- Serve as the point of contact with government agencies, regulators, and law enforcement.

- Manage user grievances, content moderation issues, and data/privacy compliance.

- Conduct periodic risk assessments and report findings to leadership.

- Stay ahead of emerging regulations in media, tech, data protection, and entertainment law.

Dispute & Risk Management:

- Manage disputes, litigation, and arbitration through external counsel.

- Anticipate and mitigate risks across Rusk's operations (content, live events, global subsidiaries).

Operational Execution:

- Handle day-to-day contract execution (production agreements, IP licenses, talent contracts, NDAs, vendor agreements).

- Partner with internal teams (Content, Finance, HR, Policy, Comms, Trust & Safety) to embed compliance into workflows.

- Provide legal training and guidance to business teams to ensure ongoing compliance

Qualifications:

- Law degree (LLB/LLM/JD) from a recognized institution.

- 6 - 8 years of post-qualification experience with a mix of corporate, media/tech, and compliance law.

- Deep knowledge of Indian corporate law, IT Act, Intermediary Guidelines, FDI, IP, and content regulation.

- Experience handling contracts, compliance filings, and board-level advisory.

- Indian national.
